Can the Browns still dominate without Nick Chubb and David Njoku against the Commanders?

On the 6th of October, the Browns play Commanders. They are already struggling with a 1-3 win-loss record in the first 4 games. This game is important as the league enters the second month and the Browns are yet to land a second win. Before that, the team is checking their options for the SNF encounter. Here’s the injury report for the Brown Bombers.

Nick Chubb has been removed from the PUP list, but he hasn’t practiced. The coach doesn’t want to take undue risk and has ruled him out for the Commanders’ game. David Njoku is still recovering from his ankle injury and has been put on questionable status.

Njoku talked about the injury with the reporters after Friday’s session and claimed the tackle was the banned hip-drop tackle. While talking about the Sunday game, he said, “I feel pretty good. I’m just going to follow whatever Kevin (Stefanski) tells me to do and go from there.” Well, that’s a wonderful sign for the Dawg Pound.

Let’s check those players first who might play in the week 5 game. Two days back, on the 2nd of October, Michael Dunn was taken off reserve (non-football illness) and added to practice. Looks like he has shown some potential in practice, so the team is ready to give him another chance. Pierre Strong Jr. practiced with the team and is also questionable for the upcoming game. Jack Conklin has also not played a single game in 2024, but is ready for a return.

What do you think? Will Njoku play? While we wait for that, let’s check those players who are ruled out.

Have an interesting take?

Three players have been confirmed who won’t be playing against Commanders. James Hudson injured his shoulder against the Giants in the week 3 game. He was expected to return soon. But coach Kevin Stefanski announced that he aggravated his injury and would be placed on IR.

Nyheim Hines was also removed from reserve (non-football illness) on the same day as Nick Chubb. Yet he hasn’t looked his best. And the Browns want him to be careful about recovery. The season is still in early stages and the team doesn’t plan on complicating things.

Alex Wright tore his triceps during practice with the Vikings in August. On October 3, he underwent surgery to treat the injured shoulder. While updates so far have been positive, he has been ruled out not only for the game but for the entire season, and will also be put on IR.
