“Hard Knocks” is coming to Miami, and Tua and Co. aren’t excited about it. Every year is a backward race to see which team can get the furthest away from the show. The NFL had to make it compulsory for the selected team to participate because that’s how scared they are of the show. Before, the show occurred during the training season, but this year, the NFL chose to have cameras and photographers follow the team during the full season.

So, why are teams so scared of this show? After all, it does allow starring in an almost reality TV-like show watched by millions. If you know anything about the Madden Curse, you’d know where I’m heading. Tua and his teammate clearly expressed their unwillingness to be part of the show… and their helplessness at not being able to opt out.

Miami Dolphins QB and a strong contender for the MVP title, Tua, was asked by reporters how he felt about his team being the “Chosen One.” He fumbled for words with a lot of “umms.” After a long, drawn-out pause, he said, “That’s probably my reaction. I have no control over that.” He revealed that as the Dolphins’ selection was being announced to them, he did not have “the best body language.” While Tua was diplomatic with his words, his teammate wasn’t.

CB Xavien Howard told the Palm Beach Post, “Hard Knocks’ is b******t, especially during the season. No, I’m serious. I’m not a fan.” No team is a fan of HBO’s cameras and microphones hovering around them in the team facility. “I just like to keep things private in how I do things,” Tagovailoa added in the media interaction. But the teams have no choice. For the team that has Super Bowl dreams, this comes at a bad, bad time.

Is Aaron Rodgers’ moment coming for Tua Tagovailoa?

The Jets team was the pick for the show before the season began. While HC Robert Saleh was initially against the idea, he eventually capitulated. Like he had an option. And then the season started, and we all know how that panned out. Star QB Aaron Rodgers hurt his Achilles tendon within just four plays of his first season with the Jets. He’s now rehabbing in California with low chances that he will make it back this season.

So, is there a “Hard Knocks” curse? Not exactly. There have been a total of 18 teams that have participated in the reality show, and eight of those teams have made it to the playoffs. But again, none of those teams have managed to win the Super Bowl. Miami is a solid contender. It’s a given that they’ll make it to the playoffs, but winning the Super Bowl?

The cameras will start rolling after their November 15 game against the Chiefs in Germany. Fans are hoping Tua doesn’t have an Aaron Rodgers moment. For now, they’re training to face off against the New England Patriots on Sunday Night Football. The Dolphins are 5-2, while the Pats have a reverse score of 2-5. They better rake in all their points before the curse starts working.
