Courtland Sutton vs. Cameron Sutton: Who's making a bigger impact in the NFL right now?

Courtland Sutton and Cameron Sutton? Sure, they share a last name, a birth year, and a football passion—but they’re not related by blood. The Suttons might not be kin, but they’re both making stories—Courtland’s racking up touchdowns, while Cameron’s locking down offenses.

First up, let’s start with Denver’s WR Courtland Sutton. Courtland’s practically a touchdown machine. Why, you may ask? Well, the 2018 40th overall has already hauled in eight TDs (just behind the Cheetah Tyreek Hill, who’s got nine). The wideout’s a beast on-field—with every leap, catch, and dash straight up to the end zone.

Switching gears to the Steelers’ CB Cameron Sutton. He signed a one-year, $1.2M contract ($674K base salary) with Pittsburgh. The star cornerback’s no stranger to pressure, as he’s played in 17 regular-season games in his first Lions campaign, recording a career-high 65 tackles. He even showed up in the postseason, with solid performances like his three-tackle outing against Tampa Bay in the NFC divisional round.

Now, for all their differences—one being a Texas native, the other from Georgia—these guys have more in common than just a jersey number. Both were born in 1995 (Courtland in Oct., Cameron in Feb.) and share an impeccable love for football. But their paths to the NFL have been pretty different. The Broncos’ WR chose to play for Southern Methodist University, where he turned down offers from big schools like BYU and the University of Colorado. The Lions’ CB stuck to his Georgia roots, playing at Tennessee and eventually becoming the school’s all-time leader in passes defended.

On-field, they’re both putting in work. Cameron’s versatility as a CB and safety’s earned him a rep as a reliable defender, while Courtland’s consistent TD production keeps Denver fans on their feet. The veteran WR’s all in on supporting his QB, and together, they’re making some serious noise.

Courtland Sutton’s mentorship fuels Bo Nix’s journey

Broncos QB Bo Nix might be fresh to the NFL, but he’s got veteran WR Courtland Sutton in his corner. Sutton, a six-year pro, knows the ropes well. “Each game offers lessons,” Sutton asserted. “Watch the film, see what worked and what didn’t, and then improve.”

Despite a rocky debut, Bo Nix’s keeping a positive outlook. “It was a great game for learning and growth,” he noted. Nix’s focused on the positives and sees the film as a tool for growth. Denver’s OC Joe Lombardi also gave the star QB a nod for quickly pinpointing his areas for improvement. “You get back and see opportunities you missed,” Nix alluded, determined to capitalize on those lessons.

Courtland Sutton’s pep talk was spot on: “I had a conversation with Bo right after the game in Seattle in the locker room. I was able to talk to him and kind of give him some words of encouragement. Let him know and understand how this game goes. The momentum is such a real thing in the NFL.” His advice? Learn from losses and keep pushing forward.

With Sutton’s guidance, QB Nix is ready to turn those lessons into wins. Denver’s dynamic duo’s set to make waves as they tackle the rest of the season together.
