Will Davante Adams' potential trade be the Raiders' biggest mistake this season?

“I don’t think there’s any positives when you lose,” Antonio Pierce said after the 34-18 loss to the Denver Broncos. The Las Vegas Raiders are in shambles right now and this game saw the absence of RB Zamir White and WR Davante Adams. Gardner Minshew tried his best to win the game but ended up throwing two picks and losing his spot to Aidan O’Connell.

Just like Antonio Pierce chose to be silent about liking a controversial social media post on Davante Adams’ trade, he chose to be silent and taciturn about the QB situation. There were apprehensions about Minshew after the 22-36 loss to Panthers in week 3 and this game just made those suspicions worse. So, the question is if Gardner Minshew is getting benched for AOC.

Jonathan Jones, the NFL insider took to X and posted, “Antonio Pierce declines to say who will start next week for the Raiders at QB. Aidan O’Connell came in for the benched Gardner Minshew today.” People might misconstrue this post so let’s see what Pierce had to say about the QB room and the starting QB in the next game against the Steelers.

“I don’t know,” he said. “I don’t have answer to that one yet.” The Las Vegas Raiders HC has hours of tape to sift through before he finally concludes. Now coming to QB performances, Minshew completed 12 of his 17 passes and threw for a touchdown and two picks. One of those interceptions turned out to be a 100-yard pick-six from Pat Surtain II.

The Raiders HC had seen enough when Minshew threw another pick and it landed in the hands of CB Riley Moss. It was time for the journeyman QB to be benched and the Raiders reverted to old reliable Aidan O’Connell, who held the reins of the Raiders’ season last year. AOC completed 10 of his 20 passes and threw for 94 yards, going out scoreless.

Antonio Pierce is in a tough spot

Not long ago, Davante Adams requested a trade from the Las Vegas Raiders, and a lot of teams have been interested ever since. However, the Raiders coach became a person of interest after he liked a Sports Illustrated post that said Davante Adams had already played his last snap as a Raider. Even the 6x Pro Bowl receiver was confused by Pierce’s actions but knew that people could twist things on social media and kept his mouth shut.

Since then, Davante Adams has been nursing his hamstring injury and missed this game against the Broncos. There have been a lot of tattletales about where Adams is going to land next. The most obvious place is the New York Jets because of his connection with Aaron Rodgers. Others believe he might go to the New Orleans Saints and play with his friend Derek Carr.

Now, there are rumors going around that the Steelers gave Davante Adams an aggressive offer, but so far, no other development. What we do know is that Raiders want a second-round pick to Davante Adams.
