Seeing Daniel Jones return to his old habitat (Duke) to warm up for the season. Anthony Richardson probably thought, why not do the same—but with a twist. Yep, Richardson didn’t actually return to Florida. But he did something to recall his Gator days. Spoiler alert: It’s absolutely not related to football. Instead, it’s totally linked to what’s going on in March Madness. Imagine something so enthralling happened in March Madness that even Richardson was prompted to put an end to his social media hiatus.

Richardson hadn’t tweeted anything for almost 3 months since congratulating his teammate Jonathan Taylor. “Congrats, Jt,” he wrote on X, re-tweeting a post of Colts acknowledging Taylor as their 2nd most rushing yard leader in franchise history. From 23rd Dec 2024 to 23rd March 2025, Richardson didn’t tweet a single thing until today, of course. Seeing March Madness live up to its name, Richardson couldn’t his urge to tweet again.

He simply re-tweeted a post from his alma mater, Florida Gators Men’s Basketball, where they were celebrating “SWEET SIXTEEN BOUND, with “🫡🐊.” Yep, he was probably lost for words, seeing what just happened. That salute emote is probably enough for us to know even Richardson is simply amazed. Like, of course, that game with UConn was a ‘what the hell just happened?’ kinda moment.

No.1 seed Florida came in swinging against UConn, who were in pursuit of a 3-peat of the National Championship. Make no mistake—this would have made UConn the first team to ever do so after UCLA’s seven straight titles from 1967-73. Like UConn’s head coach, Dan Hurley, even said before the game, “Somebody’s going to have to put us down in this tournament for us to go away.” And that somebody turned out to be Richardson’s alma mater, Florida Gators.

This win over reigning Champions UConn means they advance to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2017. All of this wouldn’t have been possible without their shooting guard, Walter Clayton Jr. Him burying two key 3-pointers in the final 3 minutes helped the Gators come away with a breathtaking 77-75 victory in San Francisco. While the Gators and Richardson will probably be celebrating late into the night, Daniel Jones will be busy working his cleats off to earn that starting spot in Indy.

Colts all but confirm moving on from Anthony Richardson

Coming into the NFL, Richardson’s tenure in Indy couldn’t have gone to a worst possible start. After starting only 4 games in his rookie year, Richardson’s first season ended there only. Yep, since suffering an AC joint sprain against the Titans, Richardson was put into the injury reserves. At that time, his 3rd-grade AC joint sprain was supposed to sideline him for only 1-2 months. But it soon turned into the worst possible news for the Colts and Anthony. In October, the Colts announced their No.4 overall pick was going for surgery to repair his shoulder injury.

Is Anthony Richardson's tweet a sign of loyalty, or a strategic move amid Colts uncertainty?

Have an interesting take?

Considering his rookie year ended so miserably, Richardson was expected to come back strong in his sophomore year. However, the injuries didn’t leave his side. He went on to miss two more games because of an oblique injury. Then you know what they say: when it rains, it pours. The same had to be said about Richardson. Him taking a controversial mid-game break against the Texans by tapping on his helmet led to his sacking. Joe Flacco replaced him as Indy’s starter for the next two games.

But thanks to his horrible QB plays (6 turnovers), he subjected the Colts to two straight losses. So, out of nowhere, Richardson got another lifeline and was named the starter again. However, his second season still ended horribly. Scoring only 8 TDs and 12 INTs out of those 11 games he started. Judging by his lack of flair in Indy Blues, the Colts went ahead and brought Daniel Jones to the setup. He comes into Indianapolis after a miserable 6 years with the Giants.

Still, the Colts GM, Chris Ballard, announced it will be an “open competition” for the starting spot next season. So, with both QBs having a point to prove to the NFL—the Colts’ QB room is going to be heated all season. One slip from either of the two will be a gain for the other. Who do you think is going to start for the Colts next season?
