The 33-year drought might be close to its end. A hero has emerged who might turn into a legend in his very first year in the NFL. Jayden Daniels has led his new team, the Washington Commanders, to a shot at the NFC Championship. He has also made some personal records this season. For instance, he now has the most rushing yards by a rookie (820) and most offensive yards by a rookie (5,113 yards) in the league. Hence, the Commanders and many others are happy for “that kid.” That list now includes another talented kid, CJ Stroud.
In 2023, CJ Stroud put on an absolute show by finishing his rookie season with a remarkable 4108 passing yards. He had 23 passing touchdowns and 5 INTs in the entire regular season. But he thinks what Jayden Daniels has done this season as a rookie is way more impressive than that.
That’s the reason when the reporters asked CJ Stroud about Jayden Daniels and his rookie year, the 23-year-old praised the newcomer, calling him inspiring: “Man, that boy is going crazy. Like, I’m so happy for that dude. And it’s not only just for him, but the motivation he’s giving to (those) back home where we come from, you have no idea. He’s giving kids back home hope that they can do it, too.” Hence, “In my opinion, he’s had the best rookie year of all time.”

Jayden Daniels’ 2024 campaign has been impressive, featuring a 69% completion rate, 3,568 yards with 25 TDs against just 9 INTs. His remarkable journey this season definitely holds the power to inspire young players and rookies in the NFL. That’s why Stroud thinks Daniels is an inspiration for many, especially noting where he came from (San Bernardino, California). In return, showing his gratefulness, Daniels too shared the same video of Stroud’s interview on the story of his official Instagram account, where he wrote: “Much love brudda.. Inspiring everybody back home (with a thankful emoji, tagging Stroud).”
Not only that! The Texans’ quarterback also warned NFL’s playoff teams by highly praising Jayden Daniels, and concluding that he is “very happy for him and proud of him. I don’t root for many other teams, but I’m rooting for my boy. I’m rooting for the Commanders.” Wow! That’s indeed an immense honor from a friend.
With Stroud rooting for the Commanders, Jayden Daniels is all set to play his first NFC Championship game against the Eagles. The teams are ready and prepared for the battle. However, a major concern is lingering for Washington.
Jayden Daniels’s team is set to lose a key member?
We already know the Cowboys are on the hunt for their new head coach. Earlier, Commanders’ offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury was seen as a potential contender for the role. But with Jayden Daniels and the Commanders squad putting together this underdog run, it seems Kingsbury might not be interested in leaving. So, does that mean Kingsbury is saying no to just the Cowboys or any other approaching team? That remains to be seen. Meanwhile, there is another news that might come as a concern for coach Dan Quinn and his Northwest team.

If Kliff Kingsbury isn’t interested, the Cowboys will have to pivot to someone else. And this time, they are now trying to approach the run game coordinator and running backs coach, Anthony Lynn. To the people who are unaware, Lynn coached the same position in Dallas for 2 years (2005-2006), before his stint with the Chargers as a HC for four years.
Lynn has quietly played a significant role in the Commanders’ offensive success this year. With his help, the team is ranked third in the rushing offense (average of 154.1 YPG). Hence, he is a key weapon for Dan Quinn and Jayden Daniels’s team. Now “mutual interest” is being reported between Lynn and the Cowboys. Let’s see what happens next. But Lynn would want to leave, if he is leaving, as a champion!
