Courtland Sutton strikes back! The Denver Broncos wide receiver thinks the NFL has disrespected the franchise with only two prime-time games in the 2024 season whereas the team had four last season. The Broncos will play the two prime-time games against the New Orleans Saints and Cleveland Browns on October 17 and December 2, respectively. While the NFL has cut the Broncos’ prime air time in half, it has only motivated the players.
The 28-year-old wide receiver appeared before the journalists and revealed that he recently had a meeting with head coach Sean Peyton and revealed the two had a “good conversation.” He then moved on to speak about the motivation for the upcoming season and cited the lack of prime-time games as one of the reasons why the team is pumped up.
Courtland Sutton starts by talking about his morning meeting with Sean Payton … and then talks about the lack of outside respect manifested in the dearth of prime-time games for the Broncos.

He said, “I’m excited to see what’s gonna happen in the upcoming season. I think that We’re gonna go out there and shock a lot of people based upon how they put our schedule out there and not give us that many prime-time games. I don’t think people are expecting a lot from us. But we know what we got in our locker room and I think it’s gonna be a lot of fun this year.”
Only three teams will have 6 prime-time games in the 2024 NFL season – the New York Jets, the Dallas Cowboys, and finally last season’s runner-ups, the San Franciso 49ers. Interestingly, the defending Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, will surprisingly have only 5 prime-time games this season, which is one less than last season. Lastly, the Panthers will have no prime-time football this season. Despite the lack of prime-time games, the Broncos can certainly pack a punch with some exciting additions.
The Denver Broncos received a massive boost ahead of the 2024 NFL season
Broncos headed into the 2024 NFL drafts looking for a starting quarterback after parting ways with Russell Wilson and they secured Oregon’s Bo Nix as the 12th pick in the first round. It is a big boost to the team and along with Jarrett Stidham and Zach Wilson; the Broncos have bolstered their offense quite a lot since last season. And, as Courtland Sutton suggested in the same interview, the Denver dressing room is looking much brighter this season under head coach Sean Peyton.

On his first season as the Broncos’ head coach last year, Payton’s team ended up with 8 wins and 9 losses. While it was not the best, he stabilized the franchise after a rough 2022 season under Nathaniel Hackett, where the team lost 11 matches with only 4 wins. With Stidham and Wilson as the starting QB options, the Broncos only averaged 21.0 points per game, which is much less than the Cowboys who had the highest (29.9) point average.
With much better and vast attacking options on his display, Payton will look to lead the Broncos to the playoffs for the first time since the 2015 season when they won the Super Bowl. While fans will only have two prime-time Broncos games, Sutton & Co will look to bounce back as their regular season kicks off against the Seahawks on September 8.
