The holiday cheer is upon the Kansas City Chiefs. Not just because of their Black Friday 19-17 win over the Raiders and playoff qualification. But because they’ve scored a touchdown! This time, not on the field but on the red carpet. And HC Andy Reid was there to celebrate it. Imagine the Big Red, who’s always seen pacing the sidelines with his headset and a whistle in hand, swapping his signature hoodie for a tux. That was the scene at the premiere of Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story.
Touchdowns under the floodlight are nothing new for the Chiefs. But their recent TD under the Hollywood lights has the Chiefdom buzzing. While most premieres are all about the glitz and glamour of Tinseltown, this one was quite different. In fact, the spotlight was on names synonymous with the team. And one of them was none other than Reid. Attending the premiere of Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story, the coach looked absolutely dazzling alongside his better-half, Tammy. The Chiefs’ Instagram gave us a sneak peek into the celebrations, which also saw Clark Hunt’s daughter Gracie Hunt and wife Tavia in attendance.

Can we take a moment to admire the Super Bowl rings on Tammy’s fingers? Red was the theme of the party, in case you missed it. Not just to celebrate the holiday spirit but also the Chiefs, who are riding high on their 14th consecutive one-score game win. And the Hunt mother-daughter duo did absolute justice to the theme! Always the biggest cheerleaders for their team, the duo were twinning with their all-red gowns. Gracie looked as graceful as ever, but Momma Hunt’s high-slit gown paired with the Super Bowl ring was screaming Hollywood high fashion.

Missing from the premiere were the power couple Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. Swift, currently on her Eras tour, attended the Friday game to support her guy but gave the red carpet a miss. The couple’s red carpet appearance was much-anticipated, considering the rumors of the film being inspired by their love story. The film revolves around Alana Higman, a devoted Chiefs fan, and her family’s quest to win the “Fan of the Year” title. That, mixed with a budding romance, the film is all about love, football, and, of course, the Chiefs! A sentiment similar to what the Chiefdom feels as the team continues to get important wins.
Andy Reid and the Chiefs working towards their three-peat
The Chiefs are currently unstoppable. Rewriting NFL history books by winning 14 straight one-possession games and their star QB Patrick Mahomes surpassing the Hall of Famer Len Dawson with his touchdown pass records. From the surface, it looks like they are casually walking towards their three-peat (We’re not jinxing it). But winning games by narrow margins doesn’t mean they’re in their best form. As Reid said after the Friday game, “We were struggling at times.”

Post-game, Reid reflected on the O-line falling short and said, “It’s disruptive to any offense if the quarterback is getting hit and not able to get the ball off.” He was referring to Mahomes, who failed to capitalize on 3 touchdown passes. “Now listen, he’s playing against a couple of good players. But you’ve got to do better than what we did there,” Reid further said. In fact, things got so bad at a point in the game that the HC had to bench Wanya Morris in the fourth quarter after Mahomes got sacked almost 6 times.
The Raiders game shone a light on things that the team needs to work on snatching another Super Bowl win. Mahomes taking a total of 10 sacks in back-to-back games was one of them. Had it not been for the ball fumble from the Raiders at the end, the Chiefs might not have had this win. The team blowing up a 16-3 lead was a massive indicator of how much work still needs to be done. As Mahomes said post-game, “We know we have a long way to go. We got to continue to work to get better, to continue to be a better football team.” And so they will! The Chiefs will face the Chargers on December 8.
