Do you know what the most difficult aspect about joining the Chiefs is? Impressing Andy Reid. I mean, just look at his career, man! He’s been a coach for 26 seasons, obviously he knows a lot. And you can’t even quantify how much he’s seen. So, given all of this, one thing is clear: joining the Chiefs is not a small deal. And now that the new league year has begun, everyone will know who passed Reid’s screening. After all, now you know how difficult it is, but looks like we already have the first player who has made it in.
Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs have finally addressed one of their most pressing issues: cornerback. This has been a problem for the squad for quite some time, as they lack elite depth at this position. While the defense is doing quite well, thanks to players like Trent McDuffie. But, it is still not very excellent, and in order to make the defense impregnable, the team has hired a former Chargers cornerback. And this is the same player who was engaged in the Patrick Mahomes-Rashee Rice collision. Yup, it is Kristian Fulton.

The report came out that the CB is joining the team for two years: “Former Chargers CB Kristian Fulton has agreed to terms with the Kansas City Chiefs on a 2-year $20 million contract including $15 million fully guaranteed. Deal negotiated by Todd France of Athletes First.”

But when did Fulton have the time to impress the Chiefs’ coaching and other staff members? Well, to answer this, let’s go back to week four of last season. Yup, this is the time when Rashee Rice was wounded after colliding with Mahomes. But do you remember why the collision happened in the first place?
Actually, Patrick Mahomes attempted to tackle Kristian Fulton after the CB intercepted Mahomes’ pass. And while it became a horrific incident for the team, the HC was noticing something else. Andy Reid knows his quarterback’s capabilities, and if someone can intercept his throw, they probably deserve to be on the team. So fast forward to now, Fulton is a Chief and will be wearing red on the field this season. Hopes are high for the CB, and perhaps Andy Reid will ensure that the CB works in sync with the club.

While the Week 4 interception helped Fulton join one of the league’s finest teams, it also cost the same team its wide receiver for possibly two seasons.
Can Andy Reid and the Chiefs miss Rashee Rice again this season?
Rashee Rice was injured in friendly fire, which devastated Kansas City. The QB Patrick Mahomes also expressed disappointment several times after the incident occurred. However, as the saying goes, some things happen for unknown reasons. Rice suffered a major injury, resulting in damage to his right knee’s lateral collateral ligament. The MRI revealed the severity, and the WR immediately needed surgery so he underwent posterolateral corner surgery.

What’s your perspective on:
Can Kristian Fulton be the game-changer the Chiefs need to solidify their defense under Andy Reid?
Have an interesting take?
While the surgery went well, the sad part about it came afterwards. At that time, there was suspicion that Rice would be gone for at least 8 months, making it a season-ending injury for him. Andy Reid and the team were stunned and devastated when they heard the news. Even though it has been 5 months since the incident, the WR has not improved significantly. According to reports, he can even seek a second opinion to determine the cause of his knee problems. As of right now, there is also the possibility of further surgery too. Talk about bad luck!
The report about Rice stated, “I’m told #Chiefs WR Rashee Rice (knee) is seeking at least a second opinion on his injury to gather additional information, per source. Potential windows for surgery have also been discussed at this time.”
