Did Josh Allen just prove he's the real king over Mahomes, or was it a fluke?

Is the NFL still scripted? Was this the day everyone was waiting for? The Chiefs Kingdom has fallen for the first time in the season. That too at the hands of none other than Patrick Mahomes’s long-standing rival, Josh Allen. It’s unbelievable how freak of an athlete Allen is and what he did in his last drive when he scored a touchdown. Surely, Andy Reid thinks there are a few things that need fixing.

The Kansas City Chiefs head coach was not convinced with the team’s performance after watching Allen fool the defense on his 26-yard TD run an unmountable lead. Reid took the podium after the 30-21 upset. He expressed how “They [Bills] did a nice job on that last drive… we have to take care of business on those.”

You know what’s crazy? Patrick Mahomes getting picked off on the first pass of the game. The O-Line did a great job of fending off the defenders. But one Bill got to Mahomes and tackled him from behind. The Chiefs QB had no choice but to chuck the ball in the air. He hoped to connect with Noah Grey, but the pass went way overboard. It landed in the hands of safety Taylor Rapp.

We can’t help but notice how Travis Kelce was a non-existent element in the game. The Chiefs TE had 8 yards over two receptions. He clearly isn’t seeing the sort of utility that he saw last year. Moreover, he appeared sloppy when he mishandled a pass, which allowed it to be intercepted during the game’s last quarter. Mahomes tried to counter Josh Allen’s touchdown. He threw a long pass, but Terrell Bernard intercepted it.

Kelce couldn’t have been easier to read as he stood in the middle of the field waiting for the ball. So, what does Andy Reid think of all this?

Andy Reid calls out Patrick Mahomes

The message was clear. After the 3x Super Bowl winner’s 196-yard, 3 TD, 2 INT performance, the Chiefs head coach felt the need to say that his team cannot afford so many giveaways. Reid gave the credit where it was due but thinks that the team has a lot to clean up on. “If you have a few mistakes against a good team, they get capitalized on,” Reid said after the game.

Another noteworthy thing about the Chiefs in this game was that they didn’t run the ball that much. Kareem Hunt rushed for 60 yards without scoring and no other player on the Chiefs roster rushed for more than 10 yards, which is kind of off-putting. To that end, Reid thought that he “could probably call some more runs when it’s all said and done.”

Sorry KC fans, but the Chiefs have got to be the worst winning team out there in terms of the optics. But props to them, they are doing what they can in the absence of some of their stars.
