In a recently surfaced photo of the Chiefs’ head coach, Andy Reid can be seen sporting a printed half-sleeves shirt, paired with black knee-length shorts and a green-white garland around his neck. The HC further adorns a groovy look as he walks past his players with his shades on. This photo of Andy Reid was clicked back in 2003 during Pro Bowl Hawaii. That year, the NFL’s all-star game was played on February 2, 2003, at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Andy Reid, then 45 and head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, was selected as the HC for NFC. Reid led his team to post a 20 on the board while AFC took home 45 with a comfortable lead. Miami Dolphins’ Ricky William won the MVP title by gaining 436 all-purpose yards. He further triggered the intensive clause to be awarded $4.6 million dollars, which framed approximately 90% of his earnings. A surprising Hawaiian saga

The earliest sightings of Andy Reid in Hawaiian shirts were during the 2003 Pro Bowl as per numerous sources. The coaches that year were apparently handed the shirts as they watched from the sidelines of the stadium. Since then, every time Reid has sported a shirt, he has made the news on popular occasions. Reportedly, it has become a practice for the 65-year-old to adorn one every time he attends the annual owners’ meeting in March.

In 2020, the Chiefs found themselves in these planned red Hawaiian shirts as they landed at an airport for the Super Bowl. “Everybody knows he loves the Hawaiian shirts. So Gehrig Dieter, a wide receiver for us, brought it to everyone’s attention that we should all grab one for him, knowing we’re going back for Big Red and trying to win one for him,” Travis Kelce said according to SI. Honoring his little interest, the franchise also has a photo gallery dedicated to his Hawaiian shirt looks. Retirement or not, Reid is here to stay for long.
