Those horrors of Super Bowl LIX are still fresh in the minds of the Kansas City Chiefs. You know that moment when the Chiefs were down 34-0. Yep, those are the nightmares the Chiefs don’t want to relive again, seeing how focused they are in bringing reinforcements for their defense. Their latest signing may not be an established starter. Still, the Chiefs saw enough to poach him under the noses of their divisional rivals.

On Friday, an agency, SportsTrust Advisors, broke the news of the Chiefs agreeing on terms with Raiders defensive end Janarius Robinson. Before Robinson even drapes himself in Kansas City red, it’s almost certain he is going to be a depth signing at the very least. Still only 26, Robinson had entered the league way back in 2021 with the Vikings. However, the 6-foot-5 defensive end’s time in Minnesota wasn’t a pleasant experience.

Robinson never made it past the Vikings’ practice squad. After getting cut by the Vikes in 2022, the Eagles took Robinson under their wing. But it was not until the 2023 season that Robinson finally got suited for the regular season. Upon his release by the Eagles, the Las Vegas Raiders gambled on him and gave him 3 starts. In his 2 years with the silver and black, Robinson racked up 1.5 sacks, 13 total tackles, 2 QB hits, and 1 pass defense from his 187 defensive snaps and 77 on special teams. PPF even credited him with 9 QB pressures in his little opportunities in Sin City.

So, he might not be that world-beater who can instantly come in and make an impact. But there’s obviously some untapped potential in Robinson, which the Chiefs might have witnessed. His 4 appearances against the Chiefs probably ended up being an audition for him to get this chance to be a part of Chiefs Kingdom. Robinson comes into a defensive setup that already has Charles Omenihu. Then there’s Mike Danna and George Karlaftis leading the defensive line.

And don’t forget 6-time Pro Bowler Chris Jones, who can also flex into DE if needed. Chiefs who possessed a top-10 defense in terms of average net yards allowed per game are looking to build on it. At least, that’s what their activity in the defensive market shows so far. With the Chiefs still busy adding more bodies to their defense, they have just revealed their offseason workout plans. It won’t be too long before the Chiefs Kingdom gets to see all of their superstars together since the Super Bowl LIX heartbreak.

Chiefs’ offseason plans take them to Patrick Mahomes’ home state

Seeing Patrick Mahomes make a name for himself in Kansas City ever since he stepped foot in the league. It always felt like this was his home. Make no mistake—it still is. But his ancestral roots tie him to Texas. That’s where Mahomes grew up with his brother Jackson. So, this year, to the amusement of Mahomes, the Chiefs will be conducting their offseason program in the home state of Mahomes. Phase 1 kickoffs on April 21st with players needed to attend meetings and partake in trainings for physical rehabilitation. By May 5th, the Chiefs will enter Phase II of their offseason workout program involving on-field workouts and drills.

Then, by the end of May, it will enter Phase III, with OTAs knocking on the doors. Players will find themselves in walkthroughs with individual workout plans. Still, there won’t be any live contact allowed in those workouts. As for the rookies’ minicamp, it hasn’t been announced yet. So, those who get picked in the draft might have to wait for a bit to wear their red jerseys. Every player needs to attend that mandatory minicamp; if not, then they will have to continue paying hefty fines to the NFL.
