Beefs in the NFL go way back. The rivalries in this league run deep. Players talk trash, fans hold grudges, and then there are the coaches, who’ve had their share of heated history. Some of these sideline battles have been brewing for years, with coaches facing off season after season. But maybe, just maybe, some of these long-standing feuds are finally cooling off. Thanks to the NFL Annual League Meetings, a few familiar rivals shared a rare moment of civility. So, who are these coaches? First off, there’s Andy Reid and Nick Sirianni.

This rivalry goes way back. In 2013, Andy Reid took over the Chiefs, and Sirianni, who was serving as the WR coach at the time, was shown the door. Then, nine years later, the two faced off in Super Bowl LVII. Reid’s team beat Sirianni and Co. with a close 38–35. Fast forward to the 2024 season, and Philly avenged their loss, crashing the Chiefs’ three-peat dreams.

And now, in Miami, Florida, these two rivals were spotted sitting side by side during the annual group photo. Now that’s a sight that’s getting fans’ attention like crazy.  Nick Sirianni and Andy Reid, sitting front and center, had the perfect vibe. Reid was rocking a cool floral print shirt, beige pants, and white shoes.  Sirianni was rocking a blue collared t-shirt and shorts, flashing a wide grin for the cameras.  Well, he is a Super Bowl-winning coach, and that smile suits him.

Then, there was the second rival pair sitting together for the annual photograph: Jim Harbaugh and Pete Carroll. Their rivalry goes back to their college coaching days in the mid-2000s. Jim was coaching at Stanford, and Carroll was leading the USC Trojans. Their face-offs were must-watch events in what was then the Pac-10.

On the other hand, Reid’s Chiefs have also swiped a $20M weapon from their divisional rivals, Harbaugh’s Chargers.

Andy Reid’s Chiefs land big catch from rival Chargers’ roster

This offseason, Kansas City made some changes in their defensive backfield. One of them was signing Kristian Fulton. Originally drafted by the Titans in the 2020 draft, Fulton signed a $3.13 million deal with the Chargers last year. This year, when the Chargers did not make any offer to the CB, the Chiefs did not delay in offering him a deal. On March 13, HC signed Kristian to a two-year deal worth $20 million.

What’s your perspective on:

Can the Chiefs' $20M move for Kristian Fulton redefine their defense and challenge Sirianni's Eagles?

Have an interesting take?

In the 2024 season, Fulton recorded 39 solo tackles and had one interception. I think what stands out to me, obviously, within the past few years, well, obviously being a defensive guy, I know defense wins championships, even though it’s a great offense as well,” the 26-year-old said at his introductory press conference with the Chiefs.

Being a corner, I like to watch other corners in this league, and the past few years, they’ve had some of the top guys in the league with their play and then their scheme, so I feel like it was a great fit for me to be put in this position, myself in this position,” added Fulton. The LSU alum will now be working under Steve Spagnuolo. This is a fresh chance for him to start with one of the best teams in the league currently.

Looks like coach Reid is taking a page out of coach Sirianni’s defensive juggernaut unit that bagged Super Bowl LIX. It will be interesting to see how Kristian’s addition impacts the Chiefs’ defense.
