Clark hired Andy Reid, and God brought the Reids to Kansas City at just the right time,” says an excerpt from Tavia Hunt’s long, emotional Instagram post. The post came after the Chiefs won their third consecutive AFC Championship title. And you have to give it to Andy Reid’s leadership for this extraordinary success. In his 12 years of coaching with the Chiefs, he’s led KC to three Super Bowl wins. This year marks their fifth Super Bowl appearance. Every year, the Chiefs Kingdom gets to witness Andy Reid’s magic with star players like Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes, and Chris Jones.

Reid’s magic lies in knowing how to handle players at different stages of their careers and coaching them accordingly. What you see as wins on the gridiron is a result of Andy Reid’s powerhouse leadership and his calculated moves. And, of course, his years of experience in coaching. On Wednesday, the Chiefs’ head coach took some time to chat with Colin Cowherd. And the host couldn’t stop himself from giving Reid his flowers.

Colin was beyond impressed with how Andy layers excellence on the gridiron, seamlessly blending the talents of his players -from the young guns to the seasoned vets. So, while discussing his excellent layered system, Colin popped a coaching question about Travis. He asked Reid if he coaches the star tight end differently because of his age and experience.

And in Reid’s answer, you’ll find why Kelce is still balling like a pro. The Chiefs HC shared that he coaches Travis differently. “We’ve had him my whole duration here and drafted him and so on. So I kind of know where he’s at, physically, mentally. I know what he can do in games. And, so we try to utilize him.” And Kelce isn’t the only one Reid’s coaching differently—the same goes for star QB Patrick Mahomes.

Recalling how Patrick has evolved in his play style, Andy Reid shared, “Four to five years ago, he didn’t have the same feel he’s got for the game now. And wasn’t as solid with all of his surroundings there and different options.” But now, Patrick is on another level. Thanks to coach Andy’s mentorship. “We do it differently with him now. Have a lot of trust in him and what he knows and, uh, what he can do at the line of scrimmage. And he’s very accurate with that. So, it’s definitely different,” said the Chiefs HC.

Coach Reid also weighed in on how good of a coach TE Travis would make.

What’s your perspective on:

Could Travis Kelce's retirement be the end of an era for the Chiefs' unstoppable offense?

Have an interesting take?

The thought of seeing your favorite player hang up his cleats is haunting, right? Jason Kelce‘s emotional take before the Bills game had people talking about Travis’ retirement. The Eagles were playing the Commanders, and the Chiefs were set to face the Bills. Jason was asked whom he would support if it were once again Chiefs vs. Eagles. And now it’s the reality. Well, the former Eagle’s answer was, “I’m kinda torn. I wanna be there for the Eagles, I also wanna be there for my brother, I don’t know how many more he has.” This had everyone wondering whether Travis might be considering saying goodbye to football after this season.

And now, Andy Reid’s comments might spark even more speculation. Talking about Kelce, the Chiefs’ head coach said, “Travis would be a heck of a football coach. He’s able to get up there and explain things and teach these young guys exactly what he sees and feels.”

So, did Andy Reid just casually throw that out there while praising his tight end? Or is there some truth to Jason’s comment? It’s been 12 years since Travis has been gracing the gridiron. Could it be that the 35-year-old might be considering retirement now? If he wins his third consecutive Super Bowl, maybe it would be the ideal time to walk away. He’d leave after writing a new chapter in NFL history. But hey, that’s not for us to decide. Guess we’ll have to wait and hear it straight from Travis himself.
