The Chiefs are still trying to find the missing links. They suffered an unbelievable defeat against the Eagles in Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans. Even after more than two weeks had passed, the pain of loss still stung them. HC Andy Reid is trying to boost up his locker room. He is on his path to bring in fresh energy with new players. It’s an interesting and daunting task at the same time.
The NFL reporter revealed surprising news for the Chiefs Kingdom on March 3. The Chiefs wanted someone who could strengthen their defense and be familiar with the system. So, they re-signed the linebacker Blake Lynch. In 2024, he was a part of the franchise but played only 1 game. That, too, the 0-38 shutout loss against the Broncos in the season-ender.

Overall, he hasn’t enjoyed much success in the league. Baylor Bears listed him as one of the most talented players in the college football scene. In 4 seasons, he played 5 positions (cornerback, linebacker, safety, wide receiver, and running back).
Talking about his journey so far, the Vikings gave him his first chance in the NFL as he went undrafted in 2020. He then spent the 2022 season with the Cardinals before moving to the Chargers in 2023.
Andy Reid was struggling with players’ injuries last season, and he was all about getting backups. That’s what led him to Lynch. In 5 seasons so far, the LB has played 29 games (7 starters) and recorded 1 interception, 2 sacks, and 57 tackles (37 solo).
While the veteran coach wants to build a strong team, questions still exist. Can they bounce back from the loss that stopped them from creating history?

Andy Reid clears stance on NFL records
There’s a historic milestone waiting for Andy Reid this season. As the Chiefs look to mend their ways for the upcoming season, reporters wanted to know if Reid is looking to break Don Shula’s record of 328 regular season wins. Andy Reid stands at 273 wins. His reply was blunt as he said, “I am not big on all the records stuff. I do not know all that, I do not care about all that, I am in this to teach young guys. I love the game, but I love teaching, so I am in it to do that.” That’s it.

Andy Reid never talked about any record, even in the regular season. Even during all the hype around 3-peat, his focus was on keeping his men grounded. But there were far too many challenges. The injuries and fatigue had taken a toll on the players. On the other hand, the Eagles were driven by vengeance.
For Andy Reid, there’s another record he could break this year. Bill Belichick’s 31 postseason wins. The Chiefs ‘ head coach currently has 28 playoff victories. If they reach the Super Bowl this year, they can equalize or break this record. But as he already mentioned, he doesn’t care about it.

Their route is traditional. Build step by step. So, expect more signings as we reach the free agency and then the draft. It would be crazy!
