The Chiefs keep rolling. It’s like they know they WANT the 3-peat. 15-1, no.1 seed in the AFC, what else could they have hoped for ahead of the postseason? Their record is almost perfect, except for the November 17 game against the Bills, where they witnessed a 21-30 loss. Ever since the loss, the team has been unstoppable and Week 17 saw them win against the Pittsburgh Steelers (29-10) on Christmas day. But what’s also amazing is Travis Kelce’s record-breaking feet, and Andy Reid is not the man to let it go unnoticed. What are we talking about?

Well, Kelce made franchise history after scoring the 77th touchdown. QB Patrick Mahomes threw over 320 yards with three touchdowns and one of those made history as Kelce paid tribute to Pro Football Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez. He copied Gonzalez’s iconic dunk celebration over the goalposts. With this, the TE broke his tie with the HOFer and has 77 receiving touchdowns, which is the highest in the team’s history.

Turns out, Gonzalez himself had a hand in this. He challenged Kelce to dunk it when he broke the record, promising to pay the fine if Kelce pulled it off. And in classic Kelce fashion, he delivered. The 12-yard touchdown not only cemented Kelce’s name atop the Chiefs’ history books, but it also came with a nod to one of the greatest tight ends of all time. But what does coach Andy Reid have to say about this?

During the post-game press conference, Reid said: “Kelce, I mean what more can you say about him. Every time we come out here, he set some kind of record. But in tribute to Tony, not to my wish, he did the dunk. So Tony, if you’re out there that was your pat on the back there and that’s all out of respect for him.”

Gonzalez, who had joked back in November, “I don’t want him to break it. Come on,” was all class when the moment arrived. “I’m so happy for him. He’s one of the best tight ends to ever do it. On and off the field, I’ve been watching him grow.”

“And I’m not surprised by it. He’s one of the greatest tight ends of all time. To have myself, then to have Travis to come and take that torch. A lot of history is going to be broken out on this field today.” That’s a torch passed with nothing but admiration.

Now, the only question left: Will Gonzalez really pay that fine? Kelce’s celebration wasn’t just a record-breaker—it was a mic drop. Let’s see if the Hall of Famer keeps his word and picks up the tab. But that’s something to keep an eye out for in the coming days. Never mind, Coach Reid is not going to waste his sight on that. He has got his attention locked in on Isiah Pacheco’s updates.

Andy Reid answers the big question: Isiah Pacheco

The Chiefs have a lot of reasons to celebrate after their Christmas Day win over the Steelers. They clinched the AFC’s No. 1 seed, locked in that sweet first-round bye, and saw Travis Kelce snag a record-breaking touchdown to surpass Tony Gonzalez. But not everything was candy canes and mistletoe…

The victory came with a sting: Isiah Pacheco left the game in the fourth quarter with a rib injury after a short run.

And let’s face it, With his fearless, contact-loving running style, a rib issue feels like a red flag waving in January winds. Andy Reid was as straightforward as possible during the assessment, saying, “(Isiah) Pacheco would be the only one [injured].” He added, “He got dinged his ribs there. So we’ll see how bad they are. On the positive side of that, he played good football.”

Translation? It’s a wait-and-see game now, with every Chiefs fan hoping for the athlete’s swift recovery. Pacheco already had his share of injuries this season, but his relentless energy is what keeps this offense ticking. If he’s not 100%, that’s a major piece missing.

But here’s the good news: the Chiefs’ depth at running back is solid. Kareem Hunt punched in a touchdown, while Samaje Perine chipped in with a couple of nice grabs. But not to be disrespectful: Pacheco is Pacheco. Now, Andy Reid and Co. have 20 days to figure things out before the divisional round, which gives the rookie sensation time to heal.

Still, rib injuries are no joke, especially for someone who thrives on physicality. The Chiefs’ playoff hopes don’t rest solely on Pacheco, but his ability to bulldoze through defenders might be what separates a good run from a great one. What do you think?
