How often are both teams in the Super Bowl the previous and current teams for a head coach? How often still that the coach is the winningest in both their franchise histories? It’s a rare phenomenon. Andy Reid, who was the Eagles HC from 1999 to 2012 before taking over at Kansas City in 2013, has gotten used to it now. Super Bowl LIX, a rematch of Super Bowl LVII, will feature the two franchises he knows so well. Both teams are strong, and have played great, but the real x-factor is that they haven’t played against each other this season. Last time both met, following the Chiefs 38-35 Super Bowl win, the Eagles squeezed out a 21-17 win. Nick Sirianni will be hoping for the same performance and outcome this time.
Meanwhile, Reid is also preparing for the game in the best way possible. On the January 31 episode of The Herd with Colin Cowherd, the Chiefs’ HC revealed his game plan for the ultimate game and said, “I’m always telling the guys that every step you take in the playoffs, the games get a little faster. It’s not just an effort thing. It’s that you’ve mastered kind of all these different schemes that we’ve got in and you can play fast. And it goes that way both sides and special teams.”

The Birds fanbase, along with most of the NFL world, is against the Chiefs winning the Super Bowl. But things are much deeper between the two HCs. Nick Sirianni was already working at the Chiefs for 4 years when Andy Reid arrived there in 2013. He was let go in favor of bringing in new staff. Though the Eagles HC claimed he didn’t mind it, he would be eager to show everyone he was wrong by defeating him. At least on the second attempt in a Super Bowl.

The Chiefs HC would like to stand with the legendary coaches or at least have a record of his own. A 3-peat is something never done in the NFL (since the merger in 1970). But the challenge is mammoth. The Eagles dominated the Commanders 55-23. But the Chiefs showed against Bills, just as they have all season, that they are ready for all situations.
He is a fan favorite. Everyone in the locker room respects the head coach. But he is 66 years old and has achieved all there is to be achieved on the gridiron as a coach. Could he be considering hanging up his boots?

While talking about his health and mood, the Chiefs HC made a hilarious point and said, “I love doing what I’m doing. And then I’m around these kids. So I’m getting older, losing my hair, no red hair left. And I go out there, and I’m with a group of guys that are somewhere between 22 and 35 every day. And they bring all this energy. If you’re limping, they’re gonna get after you and make fun of you, you know? So I’ve got to try to stand up straight, and go right, and do my thing.”

The Chiefs building is a happy place. Everyone knows each other and admires their talent, personality, and vibe. That’s a great thing. This year, when their O-line was struggling with injuries, a rookie, Xavier Worthy, came up with great performances, scoring 59 receptions in 638 receiving yards with 6 TDs and 20 rushes in 104 rushing yards with 3 TDs.

That is the Andy Reid special. He would never allow the team to be mentally distressed over their health. And they are in the Super Bowl. Of all the 8 times when teams were on a potential 3-peat in the current era, they are the first to enter the Super Bowl. Isn’t it magical?
