3-Peat! The Chiefs fanbase wanted only one thing. However, the Eagles, with their sights set from afar, had no intention of surrendering. Not only did they win, but they dominated. Head Coach Andy Reid quickly realized he needed to make changes to the lineup. As the offseason began, he traded Joe Thuney to the Bears. However, Patrick Mahomes still needs protection. The offensive linemen are the backbone of a team’s effectiveness. So, who will step up?
Analyst Mike Band came up with the mock draft 1.0 for the 2025 season. And he made some revelations. According to him, Andy Reid can go for OT Josh Simmons. It will be a big move if he does that. The Ohio State OT is one of the best tackles available in this year’s draft.

The 22-year-old, 6″5′, 319 pounds beast has displayed reactive athleticism during games. Many fans are already comparing him to the greats, like Penei Sewell and Tristan Wirfs. Another thing that stood out about him was his accuracy in strikes, helping him power up during close finishes. With the finish and IQ of the sport, he has also helped his team clinch the crucial moments. Something the Chiefs thrive upon.

However, there is one problem. Statistically, the NFL linemen have 34-inch long arms. At the combine, Josh Simmons’s arm length came out to be 33 inches long. So Andy Reid might not be able to use him as a guard. That’s a constraint! Overall, he is a superb choice and fulfills the requirement they have in the draft.
Other than this, his injuries scream trouble. He is coming back from a serious leg injury. The Chiefs will also be concerned about that. But the question looming big is, will he be available till the Chiefs get to choose?

Andy Reid needs to move up 7 places to draft OT
Mike Band has mostly been accurate in his predictions. This is his 21st draft, and he has also predicted other moves—mainly how the Chiefs will move up from 31st to 24th in the draft order. The process is simple: they would exchange picks with the Vikings. But why would the Vikings agree to this trade? Perhaps another deal is in the works. While neither franchise has confirmed anything, Band is confident that it will happen.

It’s not just an option—Andy Reid has to make the move if he truly wants to draft the Ohio State offensive tackle. If he misses the opportunity, other teams will undoubtedly line up to grab him. This would create challenges for the Chiefs, who are already eager to secure a tenacious protector for their quarterback.
