24-year-old WR Kadarius Toney has become the center of attention after the Chiefs’ fourth loss out of six games this season. Head Coach Andy Reid has duly noted the same as the Bills defeated the Super Bowl champions 20-17 in a thrilling encounter at their home ground. The Bills secured an early lead 14-7 in the first half. The Chiefs staged a perfect resurgence in the second half but eventually lost because of a crucial mistake by Toney that caught the eyes of the referees.

Just 90 seconds remaining in the game, the Chiefs had the ball in possession and were gearing themselves for a potential TD. During this crucial stage, WR Kadarius Toney was called for an offside by the referees. This eventually cost them the game and left the team quite furious. What could have been passed off as a warning was called offside. HC Andy Reid has come to the foyer to address the precarious situation.

These offside were not called out often in the previous seasons, but this has happened 11 times already in this one. While QB Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid let their frustration out in the post-match conference on the controversial decision, now Reid has finally opened up about the situation in an online presser. A reporter asked Reid, “Regardless of whether that penalty on Kadarius Toney um should have been called or not I think you’d probably agree after looking at it he was offside so what’s your um coaching message to him”.

Andy Reid focused on the mistake by Toney and gave his pointers on what can be improved by looking over the sidelines, “normally looks over to the sideline and just gets an okay um and on that one he just happens not to so”. He further emphasized that this will be the coaching point to make sure you check with the guy on the side.

Reid came in defense of the young WR and said, “he’s not lining up offsides on purpose um, and listen, he was two inches away from or an inch from being legal”. He understood that the league is trying to make amends by calling out more offsides during this season. He further came in support of the young WR.

Kadarius Toney also made a costly fumble in the first game against the Lions, which led the Chiefs to lose out the season opener by one point. The reporter pointed these mistakes out and asked Reid, “That’s not the first mistake he’s made obviously that’s been at a big point in a game that’s really cost you guys.” The reporter further emphasized the coaching and development of Toney.

Reid acknowledged the facts and said, “He’s a young guy” and pointed out, “He’s not coming to us with a ton of experience”. He focused on the positive aspects and said, “I don’t see that as being a negative. I look at the things that he produced on too”.  While Kadarius Toney has his coach backing now, he must get some control before things become scarier.
