We just didn’t play great, and I mentioned we didn’t complement each other, but that’s the same thing. At the end of the day, I didn’t have them ready. It’s hard to look at it.” Lions head coach Dan Campbell expressed this on their 45-31 loss to the Commanders. Despite a five-turnover performance and having 300-plus yards in the NFC divisional game in January, the Lions had to suffer defeat. And, days later, Detroit Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown also expressed his opinion on the loss.

Lions All-Pro receiver Brown appeared in the American comedian and Eagles die-hard fan Kevin Hart’s YouTube series “Cold as Balls” on Tuesday. Like Falcons QB Kirk Cousins, Texans QB CJ Stroud, and other famous NFL entities, Brown, 25, also had an ice bath conversation with Philadelphia native Kevin Hart. The episode was electric, as an NFL Pro Bowler WR discussed many topics. But what draws fans’ attention the most?

Sports Illustrated shared the glimpses of their ice bath talk through an IG post. “Of course, Kevin Hart had to press Amon-Ra St. Brown about the Lions’ heartbreaking loss in the playoffs. 😂New episodes from the 11th season of Cold As Balls drop every Tuesday on the @lolnetwork YouTube channel,” they mentioned in their post caption.

As per the post, during the chilly conversation, the host inquired, “What happened this year?” Brown’s prompt replied, “Washington, they played a good game.” Also, he emphasized their five-turnover performance while talking about the loss. “We had some turnovers. You wish you could have those back, but they took care of the ball better than we did,” he added.

And the turnovers. Brown added, “I think that’s really what it came down to. I think we had like four or five turnovers, and they had, I don’t think they had one,” recollecting the details of the loss.

Truly, Amon-Ra St. Brown—who caught 8 passes for 137 yards—offered an honest response. That reflected his genuine perspective on the Lions’ loss. But it wasn’t just his reaction that caught the audience’s attention. His candid admission about joining the Lions also drew the spotlight.

Amon-Ra St. Brown’s true reaction to joining the Lions

It wasn’t just the Lions’ playoff loss that Brown opened up about. He also shared his true feelings about being drafted by the team in 2021. When Kevin Hart asked about his initial reaction to joining the Lions, Brown’s honest answer resonated with many of his fans.

“I love the city, but at the time I was like, ‘F—, I’m going to Detroit,’” WR stated during the chilly conversation. He recounted being selected 112th overall by a struggling team after a 5-11 season. However, his reply did not surprise Hart. “Yeah, it’s tough. Because there’s no shot at Detroit. You gotta learn Detroit to love Detroit,” he said.

Despite his initial feelings, Amon-Ra St. Brown has consistently made a strong impact on the team with his performances. In the 2023 Divisional Round playoff game against the Buccaneers, he played a key role in leading the Lions to victory. Following the season, the Lions rewarded him with a four-year, $120 million contract extension.

We can expect similar brilliant performances from him for the 2025 season.
