Prescott is 30 years old and in his 8th season in the NFL; Brady was also 30 in his eighth season. To have a comparable view between them, we will first go through their statistics with the equal number of games played in the regular season.
QB | GAMES | WINS | CMP% | YARDS | Y/A | TD | INT | RUSH YARDS | RUSH TD |
Prescott | 110 | 71 | 66.9% | 28,448 | 7.6 | 194 | 71 | 1,674 | 27 |
Brady | 110 | 89 | 62.8% | 26, 370 | 7.2 | 197 | 86 | 494 | 5 |
As we can see, Prescott has slightly better numbers than Brady in many of the departments. Prescott is a modern quarterback who is more mobile and athletic than Brady. However, Brady has more wins and touchdowns. He also led the league in passing TDs twice (2002 and 2007), while Prescott still needs to do so.
Stats are not everything, though. The ultimate measure of a QB is how much he can help his team win championships. And in that regard, Brady is unmatched. In his first 110 games, he won three Super Bowls, two Super Bowl MVP awards, one regular season MVP award, and six division titles.
On the other hand, Prescott has not won a Super Bowl yet, nor has he been named MVP. He has won three division titles and made four playoff appearances. And yet they both are in comparison since it’s not just their stats but something else.
Dak Prescott has that Brady feel to him
Both QBs belong to different generations of athletes, and much has changed. But they have a lot of similarities as well. Brady was drafted in the sixth round, 199th overall, in 2000. Prescott was drafted in the fourth round, 135th overall, in 2016. Brady was fourth-string quarterback on the Patriots roster, while Prescott was third-string quarterback on the Cowboys squad.
