2024 could be Dak Prescott’s last year with the Cowboys. With the quarterback’s 2021 contract extension set to expire as the upcoming season reaches a close, it has left the athlete’s future with the team a little uncertain. While Dallas has delayed talks about a new extension for months now, the love and camaraderie between the 30-year-old, his teammates, his head coach, and Dallas’ owner look alive and well.

In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), a former Cowboys writer revealed that Jerry Jones and Mike McCarthy were in attendance at Prescott’s Faith Fight Finish Foundation Gala 2024. Along with the HC and owner were no less than 7 of the team’s finest athletes Jalen Tolbert, Leighton Vander Esch, Cooper Rush, Zack Martin, Dakoda Shepley, CeeDee Lamb, and even the 29-year-old, placekicker, Brandon Aubrey. Their wives and girlfriends also accompanied the players.

Another clip that made its way online was a video from the night that featured all the stars having a rather gala time at the event. The team’s attendance may have come as a surprise to some. However, one should consider that the 81-year-old Jones claimed just last month that Dallas wanted Prescott, and “that’s that.” Even though he has shown interest in retaining the quarterback and has made no effort to discuss an extension.

While the 30-year-old continues to await Dallas’ final call, NFL analyst, Robert Griffin III has claimed that the delay could work in the athlete’s benefit.

For the last couple of months, the Dallas Cowboys and Dak Prescott have been stuck in somewhat of a will they, will they not situation. After all, with the 30-year-old’s contract ending after 2024, there was a lot of pressure on Jerry Jones to extend the athlete’s contract. With the delay lasting 3 months now, Robert Griffin III claimed they were only making the number go up for the quarterback. Although surprising, the former NFL star’s words just might ring true.

So far, this off-season has proven to be an insane one for quarterbacks all over. With the Lions recently signing a $212 million contract with Jared Goff and Miami’s potential deal with Tyreek Hill, it looks like Prescott’s price could shoot up too. After all, in 2021, Dallas signed an extension with the star for $160 million and thanks to the salary cap and money spent during the NFL draft last month, Jones might find it hard to keep the athlete’s spot as one of the top paid quarterbacks.

Luckily for the team, the 30-year-old had previously stated that he had no issue falling from that list. However, with the team continuing to delay and ask the star to bring in more fire to the field, there is no saying what could happen with Prescott and the Cowboys until they get back out on the field once this season begins.
