The Baltimore Ravens had a close call against the Steelers in their last game. They lost to the Steelers 18-16. This was their fourth loss this season. Honestly, they can’t take any more losses if they want to keep their playoff hopes alive. While they still have a shot at the playoffs, the loss to the Steelers was a tough one, since they’re divisional rivals. But as long as they’ve got Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry in their corner, fans are hopeful. Both turned things around for the Ravens in an impressive way.
Derrick Henry’s been on a whole other level this season. With 13 touchdowns in 11 games, he’s been killing it, like a superhero on the field. So far he has scored a touchdown in 10 games this season. The Ravens RB is super close to matching O.J. Simpson‘s 1975 record of scoring a touchdown in every game that season, hitting a total of 14. He has already surpassed John Riggins (12 touchdowns) in 1983, and Jerry Rice (12 touchdowns) in 1987.

Well, that’s pretty cool! Right? Henry’s stats contribute to the Ravens’ success this season. He’s piled up 1,185 rushing yards on 197 carries this season, with an impressive average of 6 yards per carry. Hitting those stats at 30? The star RB is showing that age doesn’t matter when you have a love for the game. Everyone was questioning Raven’s decision to sign Henry. Safe to say, he’s making his first season with the Ravens one to remember.
By Week 11, Henry was sitting at the top of the NFL leaderboard with 1,120 rushing yards. What makes it even more remarkable? He’s now part of an exclusive group, just 26 running backs since 1970 have hit the 1,000-yard mark after turning 30. ‘King Henry’ is showing that no way he is slowing down with the age. Even though the Ravens lost in a tight game against Steelers, Derrick Henry played at his best like usual.
And it won’t be wrong to say that his consistently amazing performances make him a strong MVP contender this season.

Can Derrick Henry take home the MVP this season?
With numbers like his, Henry for sure makes a strong MVP contender. Including some other big names like Josh Allen from Bills and Texans’ C.J. Stroud among others. Henry’s the only RB among QBs. Earlier, sportswriter Peter King praised Henry’s performance this season. Talking on the ‘Let’s Go!’ SiriusXM NFL Radio podcast, he said that he would put Derrick Henry at the top of his MVP contenders list this season.

“I’d put Derrick Henry number one right now on my list.” Peter also said that he has been an outstanding performer this year: “He has been unbelievable.” Peter further chose Commanders’ Jayden Daniels at number two, putting Vikings’ Sam Darnold at three, Mahomes at four, and CJ Stroud at five. That was back in Week 5, and we all know, things can change fast in the NFL. Just when you think things can’t get any crazier, the NFL throws another surprise to you.
Whether Henry adds the MVP trophy to his trophy case or not, we’ll see. For now, he is focusing on getting wins for his squad. Peter King said, this might be his last season; if it is the case, the RB would want to win the Super Bowl for his team. But honestly, we all know he’s not slowing down anytime soon, so there’s no chance this is his last season. Next, we will see him in action in the upcoming game against the Chargers.
