Are the Saints doomed to repeat history with Derek Carr's record-breaking losing streak?

For the first two weeks, the Saints were looking like the team no one could stop this season as they put 91 points on the board. But after 9 weeks of NFL action, the Saints are now on a losing streak of seven games. Well, it isn’t even their worst record this season, as Derek Carr found himself entering the NFL record books.

His loss to the Panthers meant the 33-year-old has now lost to 31 franchises in the NFL. While doing so, he becomes the only QB in NFL history to hold that record. So you might be wondering which team still hasn’t made Carr’s unfortunate team? It’s the Raiders whom Derek Carr used to play before making the switch to New Orleans in 2023.

Well, he would surely get a chance to make it 32 when the Saints take on his former team on Dec 29th. Although the Saints would be devastated to see their collapse this season, Cam Jordan gave a surprising confession after the Panthers’ loss. “We just lost to the panthers… I love y’all New Orleans truly had higher expectations and the best of hopes for us, y’all deserve it.”

Having won 8 Pro Bowls with the Saints throughout his NFL career, Jordan was visibly upset about their loss to the Panthers. Even though the veteran pass rusher ended his afternoon with only one tackle, his words may have resonated among the fans. One of them agreed with Jordan, praising him for being one of the greatest in their franchise, “Sure the fans deserve more, but so do you. You’re one of the greatest players in the history of the franchise.”

It was for the first time since 1999 that the Saints lost seven in a row. And those weren’t the only setbacks they received on Sunday as their WR Chris Olave suffered his second concussion of the season. This led to former Saints WR Michael Thomas calling out Saints QB Derek Carr.

Chris Olave was waiting in the middle for Carr to find him for his second reception of the day. However, instead of completing a pass, Olave found himself hospitalized as Panthers safety Xavier Woods collided with him. Although Woods was shown the flag for unnecessarily roughing the passer penalty, former Saints WR Michael Thomas decided to point fingers somewhere else. Getting on X, Thomas posted, “Dude scary and panic and just throw the ba–. Get him the f out of here he so a–.”

Well, the 31-year-old didn’t stop there as he continued his opinion on Carr, “They fired all them coaches trying to cover his flaws up he still doing the same s—.” Considering the outburst on Carr, it might have come on the back of his numbers last season. Playing with Derek in 2023, Thomas caught 39 catches for 448 yards and only a TD. With him being subject to only 10 games last season, Olave was the leading receiver for New Orleans.

He finished last year with 1,123 yards, while Thomas remains a free agent on the market. Seeing his surprise criticism of Carr, the Saints QB later gave his thoughts post-game: “I have love for Mike..and when he does that. I don’t really care for that. I’ve had so many teammates over the years and he’s the one dude I haven’t got along with.” With Carr finding himself in a difficult position after week 9 in the NFL, h needs to quickly turn his season around, or else the Saints kiss their season goodbye, as they find themselves sharing the bottom with the Panthers in the NFC South.
