Stephen A Smith on his show said that people should be “embarrassed” for taking so much interest in the love life of two celebrities. And there have been complaints from all quarters that the NFL is undermining the sport by focussing too much on Taylor Swift. After she attended her second Kansas City Chiefs game, which the team won, the NFL even changed its X account bio to “Chiefs are 2-0 as Swifties”. It faced such a severe backlash that it had to defend itself, by saying that it was not a permanent move.
But what one hears on the Internet is not usually the truth, and the algorithm of social media usually serves up content that is in line with the user’s beliefs. Numbers don’t lie and a new survey has revealed some shocking facts about the “Taylor Effect”.

KS95 reported that a survey of 1,130 adults had conclusively proved one thing: Taylor Swift has more lovers than she has haters. When she attended the Chiefs game against the New England Patriots, some spectators booed her, but the overall reception she received was heartwarming. And the poll only confirmed this.
The survey showed that 70% of adults think that Taylor has had a positive effect on the NFL. While 75% of women want more of her, 64% of men agree that she has had a positive effect. And it’s not just Swifties who think their idol is good for football. While 80% of Swifties voted in her favor, a whopping 71% of football fans were also unable to deny her charm.
And her recent crowning as TIME magazine’s “Person of the Year” has only increased her popularity.

After dominating the entertainment space, is it time for sports?
Stephani Calvano, a researcher at the Marist Institute for Public Opinion, said, “Her favorability rating is at a level that elected officials can only dream of reaching.” But the billionaire singer-songwriter herself remained unaware of her coverage by the NFL and how much it made some people angry.
In the TIME magazine interview, she said, “I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and p*****g off a few dads, Brads, and Chads.” The Chiefs have their next game on Christmas Day and that too at their home stadium, Arrowhead. For the people that despise her presence, the NFL seems to have just one message: better get used to it, because she ain’t going anywhere, anytime soon.
