Until today, Ravens tight end Mark Andrews had kept his mouth shut about what happened on Sunday. His drop pass on a 2-point conversion meant the Ravens fell short of a massive comeback against the Bills. Overtime could have followed with the Ravens riding high on momentum. However, none of those happened. And the things Andrews had to face post-game were probably worse than any player could ever imagine.
After going through adversity for almost four days, Andrews finally got the courage to address his thoughts on the situation. Yes, he didn’t talk to the media after the Bills game, which is understandable given his whirlwind of emotions. However, everyone knew sooner or later that Andrews had to speak up. So, taking to his Instagram, Andrews wrote on Thursday how he truly felt after the loss, “It’s impossible to adequately express how I feel. I’m absolutely gutted by what happened on Sunday. I’m devasted for my teammates, my coaches and Ravens fans.” See the things that happened against the Bills. No one could have predicted from a mile away that Andrews would be the center of news, at least for blunders.

Like the Ravens TE was just coming off a regular season in which he caught a career-high 11 TDs, he also etched his name in Baltimore record books for scoring the most receiving TDs in franchise history. Considering what he had just achieved, expecting mistakes from Andrews was truly uncharacteristic. This was a player who hasn’t lost a fumble in his entire career. However, he fumbled the football in the fourth quarter, breaking that record. And to make matters worse, that fumble recovery helped the Bills score a field goal and stretch their lead by 8 points.
However, there was still time for Andrews to redeem himself when Jackson chose him to complete an eight-play, 88-yard TD drive. Well, you all know what happened next. A player who hasn’t dropped more than 3 passes in 2024. Ended up dropping a season-defining pass when it truly mattered the most. Following the game, negative comments, online harassment, and death threats overwhelmed Andrews. Seeing the abuse that was subjected to Andrews, the Bills Mafia decided to start a GoFundMe for Mark’s charity BreakthroughT1D.
So, amid all the things Andrews had to go through, he didn’t forget to shout out this amazing gesture in his apology post: “Despite the negativity, I’ve seen heartfelt love and encouragement, including from those who have generously donated to the Breakthrough T1D organization. Even when the moment seems darkest, perspective can reveal that there’s still a lot of light in this world.” And you know what? Andrews also teased the Ravens Nation that he would be back, leaving behind all the negatives that happened to him, “I’m now going to do my part to bounce back and contribute to it. #GodBless 📝🔒.”
Now, it isn’t like his teammates ganged up on him like some Baltimore supporters out there. Instead, they were quite supportive, from his QB, Lamar Jackson, to his head coach, John Harbaugh.

Ravens’ locker room stands up for Mark Andrews
Seeing the Ravens had all the reasons to throw Mark Andrews under the bus. But they didn’t do so. At a time when a player is going through his lowest of lows, the Ravens locker room led by John Harbaugh set the record straight on Mark Andrews’ criticism. Harbaugh just outright refused to question Mark Andrews following his horror show in Buffalo. Instead, he wanted to let his TE know his team is there for him in this tough time, “Mark is a huge part of our future, and we love him and we’re there for him. If anybody can take a tough circumstance like that and handle it with class, grace, dignity and mental toughness. It’s most definitely Mark Andrews.”
Even Jackson, who also threw an interception and lost a fumble, stood beside Andrews, “I’m just as hurt as Mark. I don’t think it ain’t his fault. All of us played a factor in that game. It’s a team effort.” Like, for real, blaming one player for a team game isn’t the right choice at all. However, considering what was on the line, the reaction Andrews got was just fans’ frustration. But no matter how frustrated you are, choosing to send death threats and harassing one of your own isn’t really a fan behavior. So, without going against Andrews anymore. It’s time to support and pray that he comes back to the best of his capabilities.
