The Raiders are currently 2-2 in the 2024 NFL season. However, since last year the team has been facing multiple issues, like quarterback fluctuations and injuries. Now at this moment too, when the Raiders are going to play their Week 5 game against the Broncos, the team’s locker room is facing another issue of its own. And that is – Davante Adams’ recent trade request. Currently dealing with a hamstring injury, the WR “believes he has several seasons of good football left in him.” And hence, he would like to play elsewhere.
Now, all these chaos has negatively impacted the team’s image. That’s why when owner Mark Davis met Colorado Buffs star QB Sheduer Sanders, all that could be heard on social media was that the rising star should stay away from this messy team and its owner. Well, this actually happened when Davis met Sanders in Game 3 of the WNBA semifinals on Friday, October 4.
The NFL Notifications’ official page on X shared a viral video of Sheduer Sanders and Mark Davis, who met each other after the Las Vegas Aces won against the New York Liberty. In that video, the two could be seen shaking hands and happily greeting each other from the basketball court. During the meetup, Davis could be seen asking Colorado’s quarterback, “How are you doing?” To which, Sanders shook hands and said “Yes, sir” with a smile.

Raiders Owner Mark Davis and Shedeur Sanders 😳
— NFL Notifications (@NFLNotify) October 5, 2024
The two further talked for about a couple of minutes, and it was clear from Shedeur Sanders’ face that he was a bit nervous while talking to the Raiders’ owner. But on the part of Davis, he was clearly happy and excited to meet the young and happening quarterback. And this is also evident from what Davis said next: “I’ve been following you. I watch all your games.” In addition to that, it seemed that he further talked about Shedeur’s father, Deion Sanders, as he said, “who knows he may be home right now.” This likely means he hinted that Coach Prime might be watching them or following along from home.
Now, although this meeting with Shedeur Sanders might have been without any hidden intentions from owner Mark Davis, the quarterback’s fans took it in a different way.
Fans are worried about Shedeur Sanders’ future
It’s true that the Raiders haven’t been performing their best for a couple of years now. The last time they were consistently good was in the early 2000s, during the time of coaches like Jon Gruden and Bill Callahan. However, in recent times, although they have been on the playoff periphery for a bit, the franchise still needs to find a perfect way to get through the playoffs. But yes, it cannot be denied that the recent struggles of the team have negatively impacted the team’s PR. Hence, that’s the reason why when the college football star quarterback Sheduer Sanders met the Raiders’ owner, Mark Davis, fans weren’t happy.
In the shared viral video, a fan straightway appeared anxious to see Sanders meeting Davis. And then what? The person immediately commented, “Don’t let Shedeur go there,” urging the QB to stay away from the team and the owner. This comment itself tells that this fan might be thinking if Sanders gets drafted by the Raiders in the near future, he could face a downfall in his illustrious college career.
Well, the same was also reflected by another fan, who said, “As a Raider fan I don’t want him Wasting his talent in Vegas.” All these comments easily tell that many don’t want the two to unite in the upcoming future in the league.
A fan stirred up some buzz by saying, “If you draft him, he’s like the (Lonzo and LaVar) family.” Well, the comparison suggests that just like LaVar, who’s very vocal about his son Lonzo’s basketball career, Deion Sanders would play a big role in promoting his son Shedeur Sanders. In fact, Deion already made headlines when he mentioned his son might ‘pull an Eli Manning’ in the 2025 draft, catching everyone’s attention. If Shedeur joins the Raiders, there’s no doubt he and his team will be in the spotlight.

On the other hand, not all reactions were positive. One person criticized the owner, calling it a “Slave owner mentality,” possibly seeing the meeting as an attempt to exploit Shedeur’s talent and marketability.
Despite the negativity, some fans were hopeful, with comments like, “Future Raiders” and “I really hope this happens.” Many still share this sentiment, especially after Deion praised Antonio Pierce’s leadership and responded to questions about his son joining the Raiders with, “That would be nice.” Now, whether or not it happens, only time will tell!
Until then, Shedeur Sanders is preparing for his grand NFL entry!
