Looks like Sean Payton is preparing to make a significant move in 2025. After losing in the Wild Card Round to the Bills, it seems Payton wants to make big moves. Well, the change will be in the QB’s lineup. But, don’t they have Bo Nix? Yes, but what happens if Nix is injured? Currently, the team does not have a backup quarterback. And it appears that Payton has been hunting for one, or perhaps he has found one.
Well, some of you may have missed Sean Payton’s recent appearance with Jameis Winston. The QB had a one-year contract with the Browns, expiring in 2024. He is now officially a free agent, and looking for another team this year. And at this critical time, Winton was seen with Payton at some gathering. Meghan Payton, Sean Payton’s daughter, used X to share a photo of the three of them. She captioned the post, “Eating W’s @Jaboowins”

Winston is a top-tier quarterback with a net worth of around $22 million. His prior contract with the Browns was worth $4 million dollars. This means that if Sean Payton decides to use Winston as the backup quarterback, it will cost them some money. But there is a good possibility that the team will offer a big contract as they are in serious need of a backup quarterback.
The Broncos have been a fantastic squad this season. They finished with 10 wins and 7 losses in the 2024 regular season but were eliminated from the playoffs. It was a crushing defeat, with Buffalo outscoring the opposition 31-7. However, the team’s difficulties did not end there. When the season was done, they released two of their backup quarterbacks from the roaster. Obviously, everyone is familiar with Jarrett Stidham and Zach Wilson.

While Sean Payton had so much faith in Wilson, it does not appear that the team is re-signing him. The HC previously suggested in a media appearance that Wilson’s practice might be described as ‘heater.’ Nonetheless, we may expect the unexpected from Payton since that is his approach. But what is his outlook for the 2025 season?

Confidence! The only thing that lets you stand tall, and with the Broncos, the coach appears to be quite confident. Everyone knows Sean Payton has one advantage: he is making a young team. And when you are a youthful team, you can accomplish anything. The reason you asked? Well, that is unpredictability. Consider this: If Payton’s strategy is successful, then the Broncos may be unstoppable. But what if it didn’t work?

Well, nobody knows what the team might do then. While the team should think of a backup for that possibility too, on the other hand, the 61-year-old coach appears to be too confident. The man was on Up and Adams show where he claimed, “There’s something dangerous about a young team because they don’t know what they don’t know,” Payton told Adams. “And when I say, ‘a young, talented team,’ especially with a chip on its shoulder… certainly we played on that… Listen, we’re gonna be a problem.”
Oh boy! The 2024 season hasn’t even concluded yet, and it appears that the 2025 one is already heating up. Time will tell what happens, but until then, remain tuned to discover out.
