New York can’t get over the whole Robert Saleh-Aaron Rodgers relationship. And just like that, Philly fans have their own set of questions on the equation of their QB-HC duo. Don’t worry though—nothing dramatic. We can relax! Jalen Hurts just gave everyone a sneak peek into his relationship with Coach Nick Sirianni, and it’s all good vibes.
After the Eagles’ Week 4 loss to the Bucs, Hurts mentioned they “have their moments,” when asked about syncing up during the bye week. But fast forward to Wednesday, and Hurts was all smiles, calling it “one of the most efficient bye weeks” he’s had. Shut down the noise before it gets outta hand, right? Guess he’s learned the lesson from the Rodgers-Saleh saga. And we can say a good lesson learnt for sure.
He went on to say, “We are the two leaders of the team,” and he’s got full confidence in Sirianni. Hurts added: “I’m happy and fortunate that we were able to come together in harmony and have the same goal in mind and try to get this thing right.” Both seem locked in, ready to face adversity together, and hungry for what’s next.

These are just words, though. The kind that oozes confidence and gives hope. But you’ve got to understand the premise of such speculations. And the Eagles’ dismal end to the 2023 season, coupled with an inconsistent 2-2 start to the new season, has not helped Hurts and Sirianni at all.
And the loss against the Bucs? Well, that was the tipping point for everyone to run the rumor mill in full tune. Not to mention, an August ESPN piece stirred the pot even more, talking about a so-called “fracture” between the two last season. Yet, on Wednesday, Hurts rolled into the Eagles facility ready to clear the air.
Maybe those “productive meetings” with Sirianni were legit. Maybe it’s just a media spin. Either way, Hurts came prepped to show that he and Sirianni are on the same page heading into the rest of the season. Well, ask the Gang Green. They’ll tell you how much of a rarity it was to get the franchise QB and the head coach even on the same page.

So, what’s the takeaway? Whatever went down during the bye week, Hurts and Sirianni know they’ve got to steer the ship together. And they must put it into effect, starting from week 6 against the Browns.
Can Jalen Hurts overcome the early struggles against the Dawg Pound?
After such a positive media presser, you expect good things from the Eagles. And let’s just say that the match-up against a struggling Cleveland Browns team (who have started 1-4, yikes!) could not have come at a better time. I mean, it’s all fun and games unless the Dawgs start eating the Birds, right? But that’s when Jalen Hurts must walk the talk for his sake and for the team’s.

Hurts has been, well, not quite himself lately. Sure, injuries have thrown the offense out of sync. But, for a guy who’s supposed to be the face of the franchise, firing below superstar status isn’t cutting it. And, like it or not, when you’re under center, the spotlight’s on you—no escaping that. Hurts needs to back up all the talk from the presser, and fast, because Cleveland’s defense might be licking their chops.
The numbers don’t lie—he leads the league in turnover-worthy plays with a 3.0% interception rate. Cleveland, while middle-of-the-pack at 17th in takeaways, is still capable of forcing mistakes. The tape shows Hurts has moments where he puts the ball in harm’s way—whether it’s a fumble or a forced throw that just isn’t there. Those are the kinds of plays that could turn a manageable game into a disaster.
Now, let’s not forget Hurts isn’t new to success. He’s got a passer rating of 85.7 this season, with 930 yards, 4 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions through 4 games. Not great, not terrible. But nowhere near what we’ve come to expect. Remember, this is a guy who led the Eagles to the Super Bowl, made two Pro Bowls, and came second in MVP voting. With that résumé, you’d think he’d figure things out sooner rather than later. But hey, the NFL doesn’t wait for anyone to catch up.

At 26, Hurts has one of the best active records for a starting quarterback at 36-18. But the records can take a big U-turn in the blink of an eye. Let’s see if Jalen can hurt the Browns.
