Making mistakes is human nature. But the broadcast networks need to be very careful as millions of fans watch. Any mistake can have brutal repercussions, as they don’t waste time to troll anyone involved. Something similar happened in the week 15 game broadcast on Amazon between the Rams and the 49ers on December 12.

During the broadcast, Amazon showed a person on the sidelines with a beard but didn’t look any way like Trent Williams. However, Kirk Herbstreit, their Prime Video broadcaster, confused the person, and said, “There’s Trent Williams, who’s a big part of the grid of that offensive line.” That’s crazy.

It was later revealed that the man in the photo was their defensive tackle Nesta Jade Silvera, who joined in October 2024 from the Raiders. But how Herbstreit compared him to the ‘silverback’ is beyond comprehension. Yet, it was a funny situation.

As far as the game was concerned, Trent Williams was not playing because of an ankle injury. It’s his 4th consecutive game which he has missed after being put on the injured reserve (IR) list. The 49ers are waiting for him to come back after getting fully fit. Fans would like to see them standing side by side on the sidelines.

Fans were also stunned and had funny reactions to the broadcaster’s mistake. It was hilarious.

Fans make fun of Amazon after a huge Trent Williams blunder

While one fan wrote, “Did y’all see the TEMU version of Trent Williams!,” another one thought he was making a mistake but later realized that the broadcaster was wrong and mentioned, “I thought I was trippin. I was like “uhhh I don’t think that’s Trent Williams😂” However, the funny reactions didn’t stop there.

Another fan also left a funny comment on the post, referring to Trent Williams. It read, “Amazon probably: they all look the same Just pick one.” One person became just technical on how that mistake could have been avoided by the streaming giant and wrote, “Super common/easy mistake, man. Definitely not all on Kirk, either. There’s a whole crew of people that found/approved that shot, got the graphic ready. and the producer probably told Kirk in his ear the shot was coming up next.

Yet, not everyone was in the trolling mode. One fan even supported the Amazon broadcaster, and when Dov Kleiman made fun of it, he replied, “I would like to see you try and call a game, Dov. It’s three hours of live TV. Mistakes happen.

It’s part of the game. However, the broadcasters and the networks need to be very careful to avoid such mockery.
