With Pat Sr.'s third DUI, is Zoe Mahomes' endorsement of sobriety a game-changer for the Mahomes family?

“Listen and Learn!” The 10-year-old Zoe Mahomes has been raising the banner of the Mahomes family quite high in the soccer realm. She takes it from her elder half-brother Patrick Mahomes – who has held the NFL by its chokehold, continuing to shine as the Chiefs QB. But the same cannot be said about their dad. Pat Sr.’s latest run-in with the cops has put all the spotlight on him as well as on the family. It must be so taxing. But her young daughter has a word of advice for all.

On the morning of 18th July, Zoe re-shared Leigh Steinberg’s ‘Wednesday Wisdom’ reel on her Instagram story. Leigh, Patrick Mahomes’ agent and his co-representative with Chris Cabott, said, “If you find yourself distracted by anxiety, worries, fears – try this! Focus on the people around you. See, if there’s someone you can help counsel. See, if there is someone whose pain, you can help relieve. Do acts of random kindness. Not expecting anything in return. Soon you will feel much better.” This 30-second reel captures the essence of being aware. Yet, the context of this IG story adds an intriguing layer of interest.

Zoe’s account, managed by her mother Anika Cooper, sharing this message holds deeper significance in light of recent family events. Patrick Mahomes Sr. got busted for driving on an invalid license just weeks ago. Now, the third court hearing knocks on his doorstep. TMZ reports his upcoming court date on July 29th adds to a turbulent legal saga. Adding to the list of charges.

In Texas, a DUI isn’t just a bump in the road—it’s a full-blown rodeo. It is a good warning! But not for Mahomes Sr. it seems. As he got involved in his third DUI charge in February.

According to court documents, while he was let off with a warning, Mahomes Sr. was initially pulled over for disregarding traffic signs. But the cops could not let him get away with driving without a proper driver’s license.

Amidst these tense family situations, Zoe’s Instagram story delivers a powerful social message. Perhaps, in light of her father’s DUI charge from February resurfacing, it could also serve as a subtle plea for her father to reconsider his actions and seek sobriety.

Patrick Mahomes Sr. is a retired MLB pitcher. No surprise, he knows all too well about taking hits. But facing DUI charges? That’s not what he had in mind. Authorities booked him into Smith County Jail on February 3rd, and he got out the next day on a $10,000 bond. Authorities found an open 16-ounce Coors beer in the center console of his vehicle, as detailed in an affidavit obtained by The Post.

The waters seemed to calm down back then. During the SB opening night festivities, Patrick Mahomes told the NY Post, “He’s [Pat Sr.] doing good. Don’t really want to get into it too much. But he’s doing good for whatever the situation is.” After he led the Chiefs to a 25-22 overtime victory against the 49ers, Pat Sr. celebrated on the field at Allegiant Stadium.

But the calm was short-lived. Five months later, he would be standing in front of the court! “Drink and drive. And you’ll be saying ‘Howdy’ to the judge real quick!” Unfortunately, it is becoming a reality for the patriarch of the Mahomes family.
