The Chiefs might be looking to beef up their WR depth chart. After watching the offense hit a few snags in the Super Bowl game, it makes sense for Andy Reid and Co. to explore fresh talent. Earlier this week, Kansas City hosted its local pro day on April 7, getting a closer look at a mix of offensive and defensive prospects. It was a chance for young, hungry players to make an impression. And the team had their eyes on a few WRs in particular. Interestingly, one of those wideouts isn’t stopping at just one visit.

This young WR, after checking in with the Super Bowl champs, has now caught the attention of a $4.8 billion franchise. Quentin Skinner of the Kansas Jayhawks visited the Chiefs’ local pro day along with his teammates, RB Devin Neal, and fellow WR Lawrence Arnold. While these names aren’t exactly lighting up draft boards right now, they made some noise during the session. None of them are considered top prospects in this year’s draft. And there’s a good chance they might go undrafted or get picked up in the later rounds. Still, the pro day gave them a solid platform to show what they’ve got. 

Skinner stands at 6-foot-5 and weighs 195 pounds. What makes the young WR stand out is his big-play ability. He averaged over 22 yards per catch in college. On top of that, he also plays on special teams, which makes him even more valuable to teams looking for versatility at the bottom of the roster.

“Quentin Skinner is a tall, linear athlete at the WR position who wins with the build-up speed, great catch radius, and ball skills required to make plays at all field levels,” reads Skinner’s scouting report. But Skinner also comes with a few concerns in his game. Scouts have pointed out areas like explosiveness and acceleration, overall play strength, and his ability to consistently beat press coverage. These are a few things the Kansas Jayhawks player will need to work on.

Now, about Skinner catching the eye of a $4.8 billion franchise, here’s the scoop. 

Quentin Skinner’s team visits keep rolling

On Wednesday, FOX Sports NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that Quentin Skinner would be visiting the Colts following his stop with the Chiefs. A few hours later, Schultz confirmed that the Colts had officially hosted Skinner that same day. Teams can invite up to 30 prospects to their facilities ahead of the draft. And the Kansas Jayhawks wideout made his way to Indy for one of those visits. The Colts used the opportunity to check in on Quentin Skinner’s health and get a better read on who he is off the field.

Quentin has a score of 7.42 out of 10 on the Relative Athletic Score. For the Colts, they don’t have a major WR need right now. That’s not their top concern this offseason. But maybe the team is looking to add more depth to the chart. As per several NFL mock drafts, Skinner will be going undrafted. So maybe the Colts are looking to sign him after the draft without using any draft picks on him.

Maybe the Colts are looking to develop Quentin’s deep ball ability. The WR is good at making plays down the field, and that’s what teams might want to build on.
