Pat Mahomes Sr. is facing grave consequences! The former Boston Red Sox star appeared before the court on June 20, 2024, after his DUI arrest in February 2024. This is not the first time the former MLB star had a run-in with the law. The 53-year-old served a 40-day jail sentence for a DWI charge in 2018, for which he pleaded guilty. It looks like Patrick Mahomes‘ father has another plea deal on his hands this time, with a severe punishment.

As per a report from KLTV, Pat Sr.’s lawyers requested an independent examination of his blood after the arrest. After the judge granted the motion, the NFL star’s father’s BAC came back at 0.23, which is extremely high since drivers over 0.8 BAC are considered legally intoxicated in Texas.

After the discovery, it is being reported that Mahomes Sr. reportedly has a plea deal on the table. However, it comes with a 10-year probation, though the district attorney is open to a lesser number of years for the probation. The next hearing for the case is set for July 22, at 9 a.m.

At the time of his arrest on February 4, 2024, Patrick Mahomes Sr. allegedly had an open beer bottle in his car. As per a New York Post report, he admitted to drinking “a few beers” at a “local bar” while watching a game. Other than his DUI-related troubles in 2008 and 2018, the former baseball player was charged with public intoxication during a 2016 game between TCU and Texas Tech. Despite his father’s troubles, Chiefs’ QB Patrick Mahomes has maintained silence.

Patrick Mahomes’ deafening silence on his father’s legal troubles

Mahomes Sr.’s last arrest in February was just weeks before his son’s much-anticipated Super Bowl game against the San Francisco 49ers. With such a big match hanging over his head, Mahomes denied any questions about the legal troubles and simply added, “It’s a family matter, so I’ll keep it to the family. That’s all I have to say.” Since then, the Kansas City Chiefs’ QB has made no further public comments on the matter.

However, the 28-year-old staying silent on family matters is nothing new. In 2023, Pat’s younger brother Jackson Mahomes was arrested for alleged aggravated battery. At the time, the three-time Super Bowl winner called it a “personal thing” and moved on. With Mahomes Sr.’s hearing scheduled for next month, it will be interesting to see if the NFL star breaks the pattern and addresses the controversy head-on.
