In the 2024 season, Patrick Mahomes was on top of the world. Three Super Bowl rings, a two-time MVP, and a shot at the three-peat. On top of that, he was in the ‘Who is the GOAT, Brady or Mahomes?’ conversation. Kansas City was so ready to crown him with the GOAT title, but… well, you know! The Chiefs could not go down as the best team of the 2024 season. KC had no chance against Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, and the Philly squad. So, the conversation about the Chiefs being the best team or Patrick being the GOAT has already been put to rest.
And with that, NFL writers have put the Chiefs QB’s name to rest from a fantasized flag football team too. You see how this game works. One day, everybody sees you as the best, and the next, they forget about your existence altogether. “Inspired by the 4 Nations Face-Off, the FOX Sports NFL writers put together the best 12-man roster for Team USA in flag football.” And they did not include Mahomes, Kelce, or any Chiefs player, for that matter. Well, not that it matters, but you see how the Chiefs’ failure to achieve a three-peat is turning out to be.

The list includes two QBs, one from the team that earned the title of underdogs this season. Yes, that’s Jayden Daniels we’re talking about. And the second is someone many thought deserved the MVP trophy, but because people were sympathetic to Josh Allen, they handed it to him instead. He is Ravens star QB and two-time MVP Lamar Jackson.
Suddenly, it feels like the entire world has turned against Mahomes and the Chiefs after their loss. And with the amount of hype the Chiefs had this season, it was bound to happen. Now, he’s not only out of the GOAT race, but even the legacy he has built is in question. Well, at least for Steelers legendary QB Terry Bradshaw.
Terry Bradshaw picks his favorite team
You can never expect Terry Bradshaw to sugarcoat things. The legendary QB is going to say what he feels is right with a straight face. And the 76-year-old has shared his take on the ‘greatest in the league.’ And to your surprise, it’s not even Tom Brady, let alone Patrick Mahomes or the Chiefs. “I don’t think [Tom Brady is] the greatest quarterback of all time… He may be the best quarterback we’ve had in the last 30 years. Is he better than [Roger] Staubach? No. Is he better than Dan Fouts? No,” the former QB said in a conversation with ‘talkSPORT’.

The FOX broadcaster picked what he feels should be called the greatest team. And it’s the Steelers –not the team we have these days, but the team it was back in the days when Terry played. “What I’m most proud of are our four Super Bowls; it was the same team.” The 76-year-old, not mincing his words, shared how the league works these days. “…They go, ‘Oh, Tyreek Hill is not happy. We’re shipping his a– to Miami.’ But who are we going to replace him with? ‘Oh, now we’re getting (JuJu Smith-Schuster) … OK, he’s available…In my day and time, you got drafted, you went nowhere unless you were cut or they traded you -you were stuck.” Ouch… that’s got to hurt, but that does make sense.

Well, that was Terry’s take on the whole GOAT debate. But one thing is for sure, Patrick Mahomes is not going to sit mum after this loss. The Chiefs’ QB did choke during the big game, but you know you can never count him off. Undoubtedly, we can expect an aggressive Mahomes on the gridiron next season. Will he be able to cement a ‘GOAT’ title for himself? Well… We will leave that up to time.
