Tom Pelissero reported this news on his X account. He captioned saying, “The #Panthers also fired QB coach Josh McCown and assistant head coach/RB coach Duce Staley, per sources.” The Panthers’ offense has notably faltered in the 2023 season, ranking 29th in rushing yards with an average of just 92.6 per game.
Despite high expectations, free agent acquisition Miles Sanders has yet to make a significant impact. Until now, he has only contributed 302 yards and a single touchdown from 97 carries in 10 games. Additionally, rookie quarterback, Bryce Young, the first pick in the 2023 Draft, has had challenges adjusting to the NFL.
He has a pass completion rate of only 61% and a nearly equal touchdown to interception ratio. Now, the decisions to release McCown and Staley will help the team or not, will be evident in their next match.
