It’s interesting to get insights into an athlete’s daily life. It’s even more interesting for someone who is recovering from an injury. Take Aaron Rodgers, for example. Who would have known what he likes to do when there isn’t much except for resting and doing nothing?
Physical activity is limited for Rodgers, but mental activity isn’t. Yesterday’s Pat McAfee show featured Rodgers, who appeared from his car while reading a book. But the quarterback’s love for books is crazier than you expect, and he’s the certified biggest bibliophile of the NFL for this one reason.

For those who did not know already, Aaron Rodgers has run a popular book club for the past three years. Some even claim it to be one of the largest in the world, and this year, he has a fair chance to make it a reality. While he is late into rehabilitation, the quarterback has endless time to think about the event and make some additions.
For that reason, while he joined the call with Pat McAfee, Rodgers was finishing one from his queue. McAfee appreciated that before changing the topic to the recent Jets match.
McAfee thought Rodgers was traveling because of his outfit, but Rodgers clarified that he was reading for the book club event. “No, I’m reading right now. I got to read some books, we got the book club reveal coming up here pretty soon.” McAfee was equally quick to react to that and didn’t forget to add his share of knowledge to it. “Okay! We appreciate you prepping for that. Second-largest book club in the world. I do believe it’s what the stats say.”
Despite being just three years old, Aaron Rodgers’ book club has risen to popularity pretty fast. So much so that a local Green Bay library once faced a book shortage upon continuous demands for the quarterback’s collection.

Aaron Rodgers launched his book club in 2021 and announced the decision on Pat McAfee’s show. The idea struck him when the Packers’ wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling asked him for a starter read suggestion in the training camp. The first book he chose for the club was Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist, the club’s most popular book. Coelho approved Rodger’s selection with a retweet.
However, the A-Rod effect came later in the same year when the Brown County Library noticed a surge in demand for Rodgers’ choices. Some books were sold out, and others went on a prolonged waiting list. The library’s community engagement manager, Susan Langerman, informed the news to the media.

The preparations for the latest edition are underway, and Rodgers is researching for new additions. The 4x NFL MVP told McAfee that he has 30 books that he needs to cover, and 18 of them are planned for the upcoming third season. Rodgers is not fully ready for matches yet, but he’s progressing quickly and will soon complete all 18 challenges for the biggest private book club in the world.
