Bill Belichick being left without a head coach job in the upcoming season was something nobody could’ve expected. After the New England Patriots legend bid his adieu to the team after 24 years, it was expected that the Atlanta Falcons would be his next destination. However, as things would turn out, the longest-tenured coach was left without a home.

Belichick might not have a coaching job in the NFL, but his ample experience has gotten him a recurring role in ManningCast and the Pat McAfee Show. Considering the accolades under his belt, including the six Super Bowl wins and three AP NFL Coach of the Year awards, one can only imagine the insight he would provide in the 2024 season.

After sharing the stage with Pat McAfee, Belichick cemented an unofficial deal with the analyst to have a weekly segment together. Excited by what the possibility could bring to the table, the host discussed the HC’s entry into the media world with Michael Lombardi. The three-time Super Bowl champion talked about how the former Patriots legend is going to give an unparalleled insight into the sport.

He said, “And we’re all gonna benefit when he breaks down Monday night football on your show because -it will be a peak into the game no one else can give you.” McAfee agreed with Lombardi’s assessment and quoted what he heard about Tom Brady’s experience with Belichick via Payton Manning. “He said that Tom would come into his office,” related the host. “…And Bill Belichick would break down not only the defense that he’s going to be playing against, defense coordinator, what tree he comes from, what rules of this particular defense are from the founder of the defensive scheme that they’re going to be running.”

This incident gives a trailer of what’s to come ahead, with Belichick joining the Monday Night football shows. While the HC leaves his days with the Patriots behind him, for at least this year, his son, Brian, continues to be the safeties coach in New England.

After Belichick made his exit, all eyes turned to Brian, anticipating whether the son would follow in his father’s footsteps. However, he decided to continue in New England in the position he’s held since 2020, the safeties coach. Prior to this, he had also served as the coaching assistant and a scouting assistant in the team.

When asked why the young coach stayed on despite Belichick’s departure, Brian had a simple answer. “I enjoy very much coaching here, living here, working with our players every day,” he said. “I have the opportunity to coach a position in the National Football League. I mean, how much more can you ask for than that? ” Looking on the positive side, Brian mentioned that he feels it’s better for the family dynamics to “have some separation” so that now they’re “not just connected by football.
