After a damper against the Buffalo Bills in the Week 6 game, New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers has something to cheer about. His former partner Davante Adams is back to share the locker room. It is a great feeling to have a bestie by the side. But can Adams turn things around for the Jets – the 2-4 team of the season? A-Rod shared his thoughts on this.
Calling the inclusion of Adams surreal, Rodgers expressed his joy. He reminisced about how Adams transformed from ‘fat to fit‘ by taking his comments seriously. Addressing the pressing question—can Adams strengthen the offensive lineup?—Rodgers said, “Yeah, I mean, he can do a lot of different things. He can play all three positions: on the ball, receiver, off the ball, and slot. He’s got a high football IQ. I think he’s going to help.” That’s a lot to expect from this addition.
Rodgers also felt positive for the young guns of the team. He said, “I think he can help teach the young guys who are willing and eager to listen coz he’s a master of route running and releases. He’s always working on his craft.” And regarding his bonding with Adams on the field, he said, “We click. I mean we could literally watch a highlight clip and both of us not only know the game, but the play in the situation and the thoughts that were behind and maybe a conversation that happened. So that’s a gift.” The numbers support A-Rod all the way.

The pair shared the Green Bay Packers locker room. They complemented each other pretty well. If numbers can do the talking, Davante Adams had 622 catches for 7,590 yards and scored 69 TDs in 108 games with Rodgers. He was the perfect WR for A-Rod as well – who had a passer rating of 103.5 with 28,368 yards, and 237 TDs with Adams. Before welcoming an old mate, Rodgers blamed Mike Williams for the loss against the Bills.

It was a dreadful Week 6 game for the Jets. They lost to the Buffalo Bills by 20-23. Though the Jets had many shortcomings – red zone struggles, missed kicks, and penalties, Rodgers zeroed in on William’s mistake. He said, “It’s two vertical [routes]. Allen [Lazard] is down the seam and Mike is down the red line. I’m looking at Allen, he puts his hand up and three guys go with him. So I’m throwing a no-look to the red line. And when I peek my eyes back there, [Williams] is running an in-breaker. He’s got to be on the red line. It’s the little things every single time.” Well, he wasn’t wrong.
When the Gang Green was in dire need of conversion, their WR fell on a third-and-16. This ended in an interception by Taron Johnson. Eventually, the Jets lost the close battle. Williams’s struggles are more than this slip-up. He is having a bland season. In the initial 6 games, he hasn’t managed to get a single TD. He covered 145 yards and made just 10 receptions. His longest throw is just 22 yards long.
The incoming WR Davante Adams seems to be in a good touch. In the 3 games with the Las Vegas Raiders, he held 18 catches, covered 209 yards, and made a TD. Also, the 31-year-old WR has vast experience of 153 games under his belt, in which he had 10,990 yards, 96 TDs, and 890 receptions.
