What a big win for the Washington Commanders at the State Farm Stadium. The 42-14 win against the Arizona Cardinals implored NBA players like Kevin Durant to come out and support the Commanders on his birthday. However, the Commanders and their fans got a much bigger shoutout from part-owner of the NFL team and NBA legend Magic Johnson.
The LA Lakers legend took to X after the game and took a shot at the Arizona Cardinals fans. He was impressed by the sheer volume of Washington fans at the game. In a post on his X account, Johnson wrote, “I was blown away by how many Commanders fans were at the game today! They showed out and were even louder than the Cardinals fans [laughing emoji].”
Kyler Murray who? Judging from the past four games, Jayden Daniels is the best quarterback in the National Football League right now. His 233-yard, 2 TD performance was the cherry on top of the cake in the last game against the Bengals, where he completed more than 91% of his throws. Well, Commanders fans got what they came to see in this road game.

They watched the second overall pick in his element, displaying his dual-threat QB skills at the highest level. Apart from the late 10-yard TD pass to Terry McLaurin, the 24-year-old QB also scored a 9-yard rushing touchdown. All that without compromising his accuracy, as he went 26-30 on his passes against the Cardinals’ defense.
Now, after a blowout win in Arizona, the LA Lakers legend has just one more favor to ask of the Commanders’ fan base. The Washington team is headed home with a win, and they’ll be hosting the Cleveland Browns in week 5. Johnson wants the fans at home to sell out FedEx Field.
“With 2 back-to-back road wins, we are heading home next week,” the Lakers legend posted on X. “I want to see Northwest Stadium sold out, full of Commanders fans, and as loud as possible!” But Johnson isn’t just taking shots at Arizona Cardinals or Cleveland Browns fans. In fact, his jabs are not limited to football. Their reach extends to the NBA, and Anthony Edwards experienced the full force of his jabs.
Magic Johnson’s Commanders put in a perfect spot to diss Anthony Edwards

Edwards must have known that he was about to get cooked by NBA legends after he took shots at them back in August. Long story short, he thinks that Michael Jordan was the only player who had real “skills” back in the day. His conversation with The Wall Street Journal’s Lane Florsheim set him up for the hot seat.
“I didn’t watch it back in the day so I can’t speak on it,” Edwards said. “They say it was tougher back then than it is now, but I don’t think anybody had skill back then. [Michael Jordan] was the only one that really had skill, you know what I mean?” But Magic Johnson was quick to give Edwards a reality check and shamed him for not winning anything at all on the Jimmy Kimmel Show.

“Thanks a lot, Anthony,” Johnson told Kimmel. “I think he should’ve asked somebody, maybe his father or his grandfather about Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Dr. J., Isiah Thomas, Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, Clyde Drexler, all these guys, Dominique Wilkins. We had some of the most dominant players that’s ever played. Also, too, you might want to talk trash when you’ve won something.”
Edwards has been really quiet since then, just like Austin Rivers, who tried to stir up trouble when he compared NBA players to the NFL. For what it’s worth, getting G-checked by one of the greats might just inspire Edwards and his Timberwolves to do better in the coming season. For now, he can just watch the 12x All-Star take all the dubs with his football team. Maybe “W” in Washington stands for winning.
