Is being a fan harder than playing the game, as Mahomes suggests?

Are y’all Patrick Mahomes’s fans? We sure are. But what if Mahomes has to choose who to fanboy over and has a hard time? He might have had a hard time choosing whom to support with so many college football games happening at the same time. He took to X and shared a cryptic message on the social media platform.

The 3x Super Bowl winner and a former Red Raider took to X and posted, “Bro being a fan is hard 😂😂😂 #WreckEm.” So, it’s safe to assume that he was watching the Red Raiders go against the Iowa State Cyclones and watch his former team barely come out with a win.

Red Raiders have had a mid-start to their season but the 23-22 victory against the Cyclones helped them move up to a 6-3 record. However, it’s still hard to know whether Mahomes is talking about a team, a QB, a receiver, or some other player. Assuming that it’s quarterback performance that Mahomes is looking for, let’s talk about Behren Morton and Rocco Becht.

The Red Raiders quarterback completed 52.5% of his passes over 237 yards. However, his two touchdowns came with two picks as well. What was Iowa’s defense doing when Josh Kelly was wide-open near the end zone in the first quarter? There was literally no one to check him over that 35-yard dime.

The second quarter was scoreless for the Red Raiders as Iowa’s Kyle Konrardy scored a field goal and Jayden Higgins scored a 20-yard tuddy from Rocco Becht’s pass. However, the Red Raiders answered in the third quarter with another one of Josh Kelly’s touchdowns that put Texas Tech in a 13-17 lead. Iowa, however, was scoreless in the third quarter.

Have an interesting take?

Iowa’s kicker scored an early field goal in the last quarter. It was followed by a touchdown from Iowa’s Carson Brown on a 44-yard pass from Becht. Raiders, desperate for a win, had to do something. With 20 seconds remaining in the game, Tahj Brooks came in clutch. He scored a touchdown giving Texas a one-point lead, enough to seal the game.

Maybe this serious game made it tough for Mahomes to decide whom to cheer for. But the Red Raiders were the obvious choice here. Here’s what the fans thought of the 3x Super Bowl winner’s post on X.

What people think of Patrick Mahomes assessment

When the NFL isn’t on, people are interested in college football. But for one person, watching these close matchups is a stressful affair. However, Mahomes’ posts distract him, and that stress goes away for a moment. “Imagine the stress we go through every Sunday during close games because you have to keep it interesting 😂😢.”

This other fan might be a Patrick Mahomes fan because Chiefs and Red Raiders’ game days max out his anxiety. He replied to Mahomes’ post and wrote, “Brother. You have no idea. Between you and TECH. My anxiety is maxed out all fall. Wreck em! How bout those CHIEFS!!!”

For one fan, this game was reminiscent of the Chiefs’ struggle on the fields these days. They are scrapping for wins, but still maintain a perfect record somehow. In a reply to the Kansas City Chiefs’ QBs post, one fan wrote, “Now you see what Chiefs Kingdom goes through every week.”

One person took a slight jab at Taylor Swift. He indicated that being a Taylor Swift fan is hard, saying, “I’m sure being a swifty is too.” We know Mahomes is pretty well connected to the multi-Grammy winner. Another fan humored with a Tahj Brooks reference when he wrote, “Don’t feel like it’s over yet… still got 20 seconds.”

With this game ending in the Red Raiders’ favor, the former Texas Tech QB, Mahomes, has to worry about dealing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the next game on Monday Night Football. Do you have “anxiety” about the game? Let us know below.
