“We want to get basketball to Kansas City in general and then WNBA,” Patrick Mahomes had stated. He and Brittany Mahomes are pushing to bring a WNBA expansion franchise to Kansas City and that would be another feather in their hat. After all, Patrick Mahomes is already a minority stakeholder in NWSL’s Kansas City Current, MLB’s Kansas City Royals, and MLS’s Sporting Kansas City. So, a WNBA team as the next step isn’t too surprising. Although it looks like smooth sails for the Mahomes clan, Brittany’s third time has been riddled with ‘pregnancy symptoms’.

Her third pregnancy has been the toughest physically. “Good morning just me and my skin that is losing its mind. This pregnancy has been the hardest on me … sickness, exhaustion and now skin!” she wrote in July. Similarly, in August, she shared how exhausted she was. “I need naps. So I like to work my naps into my schedule now, because when you’re pregnant you’re tired.”

“With the first pregnancy, it was just me. So I could take naps, sleep all day, you know, I had nothing priority for me to do. Then, with Bronze, it was like, ‘Well, I have to take care of this kid but I’m tired,’ so I would just nap when she napped. Now I have two kids to take care of, but they do nap at the same time, so I’m able to nap with them. But I am definitely a little bit more tired. Some days I wake up and I’m feeling absolutely horrible.”

She shares two children with Patrick Mahomes: Sterling Skye, born in February 2021, and a son, Bronze, born in November 2022. However, fans are excited about their third kid—a daughter. And the soon-to-be momma of three has been prioritizing her time with her family and children. In October, she shared an adorable Instagram story with her son, where he was seen rolling and cooing before sleeping—their usual bedtime ritual. At the same time, she is also prioritizing her health.

In an IG story, she posted a video while working out in the gym. As she was busy with various exercises, she made sure to highlight one that was particularly difficult for her: step-ups. “Step ups — the one workout that kills me the more pregnant I get,” she wrote, adding laughing emojis. That being said, she also shared what she enjoys. In another story, she wrote, “Sumo anything, sign me up,” while doing a sumo deadlift with a dumbbell. She was wearing a brown sports bodysuit.

Last month, her workout routine was revealed by her fitness instructor, Kristy Rae, who shared that Brittany was avoiding what is popularly known as the ‘mom butt’. “Many women experience what’s called ‘mom butt’ during and after pregnancy, which happens when the glutes lose shape and muscle mass. This is often due to changes in posture and how we move as our bodies adjust to pregnancy,” Rae captioned the video.

While all this has been going on, her NFL husband is making some big business moves. The way he has been gunning forward, it looks like he will have a team in every other sport by the time he retires from the NFL. Considering the WNBA set viewership records in 2024, and the audience’s growing interest in women’s basketball, it would be a great business move for him to gain ownership of a team.

Patrick Mahomes’s quest for a WNBA Franchise continues…

There is one thing that reflects in his business tactic: His love for Kansas. He got everything, his money, fame, and name here. Already a part-owner of the WNSL franchise, KC Current, MLS side, Sporting KC, and MLB team, KC Royals, he is ready to splurge money for a WNBA team.

The man is trying to add another sport to his city with a $200 million bid. It’s legendary stuff.

Cathy Engelbert, WNBA Commissioner, announced in April this year that a 16th team is being added to the league. Since then, there have been rumors about Mahomes wanting to be a part of the ownership. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on October 30 that Patrick Mahomes and his wife met with the WNBA. But the competition is stiff. NBA star Jayson Tatum is also vying for a WNBA franchise. Who will win? We will have to wait a bit to find out.
