The Ravens faced a narrow defeat in the divisional round, but the NFL’s scrutiny on Lamar Jackson’s team shows no signs of letting up. Marlon Humphrey, already flagged three times during the regular season, has been fined once more for unnecessary roughness in the clash against the Bills. The latest penalty brings his total fines over $90,000 in 4 violations. Although the Ravens are out of the playoffs, the Baltimore cornerback has risked another penalty after his stance on the Chiefs-Bills refs controversy.
Once again, the Kansas City Chiefs have made it to the playoffs. But unlike the past two seasons, the Chiefs are heavily accused of being favored by the NFL refs throughout the 2024-25 season. The Chiefs-Bills game was no exception. We all saw it on Sunday how the NFL referee Clete Blakeman gave a catch in favor of rookie receiver Xavier Worthy, while the ball hit the ground. Humphrey, already frustrated with poor refereeing this season, also joined the angry fans’ wagon and did not hold back in calling out the NFL officials for robbing Josh Allen’s Super Bowl chance.
After the Bills lost the AFC Championship game by 32-29, he tweeted, “They lowkey did rob the Bills from the 4th down conversion. Josh definitely crossed the line.” It was the first drive by Bills in the 4th quarter, which came down to 4th & inches. Josh Allen tried to press forward, but Nick Bolton pushed him back. The referee on the ground called it short. But the replay team immediately reviewed it, but they upheld the decision. It was a crucial moment, changing the flow of the game.

However, by calling out the officials, Marlon Humphrey has risked another penalty this year. Despite being booked under 4 violations, Humphrey hasn’t changed his ways. The NFL doesn’t take it lightly when any player makes such comments. Will the league fine him? We’ll need to wait for a few days to get our answer.
LB Nick Bolton, who stopped him on that play, revealed his stance on it and said, “Just sticking with the game plan.” That’s a perfectly summed-up statement. The Chiefs knew that Josh Allen could make big rushes. So, they had a defensive player on his tail throughout the game, putting him under pressure.
Despite the brilliant plays by the Chiefs, Marlon Humphrey just couldn’t see over it. He shaded them after the NFL Championship game as well.

In the NFC Championship game, the Eagles crushed the Commanders by 55-23. And they have a pretty tough team. Just a few days back, On January 22, the Ravens CB called out for the Bills and any NFC team to beat the Chiefs. And after the Birds win, he shaded Patrick Mahomes and co. by tweeting, “I thought the Eagles were the best team we played this year 🤷♂️” That stirred the emotions.
While tweeting this, Marlon Humphrey clearly forgot their defeat in the season opener. But his admiration for the Grim Reaper is strange. After losing the first game in 2024, he had some choice words for Chiefs QB on his podcast, Punch Line with Marlon Humphrey, as he said, “He’s like a chubby fast dude. I’m always amazed when he’s outrunning people.”

Not only him, but Mahomes‘s abilities amaze the entire football world. They became the first team to qualify for the Super Bowl on a 3-peat post the merger in 1967. That’s a rare feat in itself. However, no one can really say who’s going to win on February 9.
The Eagles and Chiefs didn’t play any regular season games this year. The last time they played in Super Bowl LVII, the Chiefs won. Would it repeat this year? We’ll find out soon.
