Is Aaron Rodgers making a huge mistake by trusting Nathaniel Hackett after his disaster with Russell Wilson?

Uh oh, Jets fans! Did they just sabotage Aaron Rodgers’ season with a coaching blunder? Analyst Mina Kimes takes scorching hot shots, throwing major shade at coach Nathaniel Hackett

Landing the legendary Rodgers was a victory lap for the NYJ, but the offensive coordinator position seems to be pretty much in trouble. Kimes torched up the Jets’ decision to retain Hackett, calling it a “recipe for disaster” for their prized QB Rodgers.

The sports analyst took on a particular issue with Hackett’s lack of push and innovation in play-calling. Remember, A-Rod missed a chunk of last season due to injury, and with Hackett at the helm, the Jets offense sputtered. Kimes argued that a good OC should be able to elevate their QB, even in a backup situation. “[Hackett] never really pushed Rodgers and made him a better player,” she said on The Mina Kimes Show.

But wait, wasn’t Rodgers totally confident in Hackett? Yep, and that’s what made this whole situation so interesting. During an interview, Aaron Rodgers brushed off concerns, saying he had complete faith in the Jets’ OC. “You should trust me, and I trust Nathaniel,” he declared. Here’s the thing—Kimes questioned if blind faith’s enough, especially since the New York team reportedly considered replacing Hackett before deciding to stick with him.

So, is Kimes just overreacting, or is there a legitimate concern here? The truth probably lies somewhere in between. Sure, A-Rod’s presence gives the Jets’ offense a boost, but banking solely on his veteran moves might not be the smartest long-term plan.

But the Jets have bet big on Rodgers, and their season’s riding on him and Hackett clicking on offense. Let’s hope Hackett steps up and shuts down the haters despite the Broncos’ disaster with Russell Wilson

Russell Wilson’s washed-up stats under OC Hackett

What’s your perspective on:

Is Aaron Rodgers making a huge mistake by trusting Nathaniel Hackett after his disaster with Russell Wilson?

Have an interesting take?

Remember all the chatter about Wilson being ‘washed’ last year? Sports media personality Colin Cowherd never bought it, and he’s now talking smack about Denver’s former OC, Nathaniel Hackett.

Cowherd points to a stark difference in Wilson’s performance this season under a new coach. Last year, with Hackett calling the shots, Wilson’s stats were pedestrian: a completion percentage dipping below 60% and a passer rating stuck in the 80s. This year, under a new coaching regime, Wilson’s back to his old self, with a completion percentage near 70% and a passer rating above 100. Wild difference, wouldn’t you say?

Just check out the 2022 season opener against Wilson’s old team, the Seahawks. With a chance to keep the revenge game alive on a crucial 4th down, Hackett let the clock tick away precious seconds before calling a timeout. This botched comeback had everyone doubting Hackett’s ability to handle a veteran QB like Wilson.

Even the best players can flop in bad system, a big example–Tom Brady ‘s final year with the Patriots. On the flip side, a great coach can boost a player’s game—Wilson’s comeback this season. Bottom line: good coaching matters and Hackett might not be ‘it’ for A-Rod.
