Since last year, Patrick Mahomes and his family have been going through a tough time. After they lost Debbie Bates, several controversies surrounded Randi Mahomes and her family. Additionally, this year they faced another serious health battle with Randi’s father, Randy Martin. However, just as the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback’s Super Bowl win brought the family joy, another major update on Martin’s health has brought them a sense of relief.
Yes! Randi Mahomes requested her fans to pray for her father about a month ago. Now it seems the prayers have been heard. Randy Martin, who was hospitalized in September due to poor health, has now been discharged from the hospital. Sharing this wonderful news with her followers, Mahomes shared a couple of stories on her official Instagram account.
In one of the posts, Randi Mahomes shared a snap of her on-road trip to her hometown in Texas, with the caption, “My hometown.” Although she is behind the camera, it’s clear that Patrick Mahomes’ mom is sitting inside her car. And guess what? She is accompanied by her healthy dad, Martin.

The last post she shared after arriving in her hometown of Tyler clearly shows Randi Mahomes looking ready for a quick family selfie. In the picture, the mother of three poses with her father, who is sitting in the car and looking at the camera, along with another family member, who resembles Randi, posing on the other side of him. What caught fans’ attention was the caption the 53-year-old wrote: “Dad got out today!! He was determined too.”
So, finally, October brought the positive update for Randi, after she wished for it at the start of the month. And that’s why, she is over the clouds thanking Jesus, “Jesus is King,” on her X. However, now, on the one hand, Patrick Mahomes’s family is happy to see their healthy grandfather. But on the other hand, this month brought sad news for the quarterback’s father.
Is Patrick Mahomes’ dad behind bars?
Patrick Mahomes’ dad, Patrick Mahomes Sr. has begun serving his 10-day sentence related to the DWI case. According to TMZ’s official X account, “Patrick Mahomes Sr. is back behind bars, but he has not been accused of further wrongdoing. He’s simply begun serving his sentence for his most recent DWI conviction.”
Mahomes Sr. was arrested on February 3. This was his third DWI case, just a few days before when his quarterback son won his third Super Bowl. This happened after the MLB star “recorded a blood alcohol content of 0.23 when an officer pulled him over in Tyler, Texas.” When he was arrested that time, according to the viral footage, the former baseball player was heard asking the arresting officer, “Can I say one thing? My son is getting ready to play in the f–king Super Bowl, OK? Just listen to me. I am not drunk. I promise you. I’ve had some drinks. But he can’t have this right now. Listen, this can’t happen.”

Hence, he didn’t want this news to be made public. Being a father, Mahomes Sr. was afraid that his son would be disturbed after hearing this news. But unfortunately, this news broke just before the Super Bowl, and by that time, Patrick Mahomes knew everything. Despite that, he made his daddy proud by winning the Super Bowl. He even dedicated the win to him saying, “This one was for him.”
Now, Mahomes Sr. serves his sentence at Smith County Jail starting Monday, October 21. The family expects authorities to release him from custody on October 31.
