Remember the time when Nick Sirianni was shushing his fans as critics jumped in to question his management? Well, where are those critics now? Coming off six consecutive victories, with the latest one over the Commanders, their biggest critic, Giants legend Michael Strahan, questioned their Super Bowl chances this year.
Hosting Jalen Hurts on his Good Morning America show, Strahan had a straightforward question for the Eagles’ QB, “Are the Eagles going to the Super Bowl?” Although they look like a team that could be punching their ticket to the Caesars Superdome in February. Hurts isn’t taking anything for granted, “Let’s take it one game at a time. It’s been a fun year. There are a lot of different things we have to overcome. There is so much for us to do.” As Jalen gave his thoughts on Super Bowl chances in a year where they are only behind the Lions in regular season record (8-1).

Strahan also expressed his gratitude to Hurts for taking care of former Giants running back Saquon Barkley. Spending five years with the G-Men, Barkley racked up 2 Pro Bowls and an NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year title in 2018. But after his deal expired in New York, Barkley joined the Eagles for a three-year $37.75M deal. And after 10 games into the season, it’s already looking like the Eagles have struck gold.
After recording 146 total yards on 26 carries, Barkley has left behind Ravens’ Derrick Henry in rushing yards. He now tops that column with 1,137 after 10 games into the season. Well, Hurts isn’t the only one taking their six-game-winning run for granted.

As veteran defensive end Brandon Graham also believes the Eagles need to stay focused until the finish line, “We’ve just got to make sure we stay the course and don’t get too big-headed. When we’re holding that trophy, that’s when we can do everything we want to do. Right now, we’ve got to stay focused all the way to the end.” Well, Graham’s defense over that six wins in a row has worked wonders. Philly has only given up 18.3 points per game while restricting the Commanders to just 264 yards on Friday night. But Strahan’s focus on the Eagles’ Super Bowl chances amid his long-standing rivalry with them does raise some eyebrows.
Michael Strahan’s love and hate relationship with Eagles’ fans
Going back to 2023, when Strahan appeared for a Sports Radio WIP interview, he called Philadelphia the meanest city he has ever played in. “I loved playing in Philly. They’re by far the meanest city, the meanest fans, the meanest people. But it was motivating.” Well, his long-standing rivalry with the noisy neighbours also got Strahan to appreciate their boos. Seeing Strahan express his thoughts of getting booed, this could be the first time a player has expressed their liking for it.

However, listening to his reason could help you get an idea of that mindset, “If there are Eagles fans they’re booing, that’s what I want them to do because if they’re not booing, that means I wasn’t very good at my job.” Strahan used the Eagles’ fans’ booing as his benchmark on whether he performed well enough. He even pointed out how the Eagles were the team he found most success against. “If any team knows, it’s the Eagles, that the most sacks I ever had out of any quarterback of any team is theirs.”
Well, it’s true. Michael Strahan recorded a mammoth 21.5 career sacks against the Philly’s. However, with the Giants languishing at the bottom of their division and the Eagles flying high in the NFL. He wouldn’t be happy to see the Eagles make a Super Bowl trip this season. But rivalries aside, Strahan would have to agree that the Eagles are a team to beat this year. And it could be their year if things continue to move the same come February.
