The stage was set, and the Denver Broncos delivered. Finally, after falling to a 1-5 record in the season, the Orange Crush has bounced back with a few wins. The Bills‘ matchup was long anticipated in their favor, and the Broncos did not disappoint.

But it’s challenging to turn around from a point where most believed the playoff was almost begone and one’s just fighting to avoid embarrassment. So, how did Sean Payton manage to do it? We have an answer following the Bills victory.

With the win against the Bills, the Broncos now have a 3-game win streak, equaling their worst losing streak in the season. That includes a win over the Packers, a sweet revenge over Patrick MahomesChiefs, and dismantling the Bills to complete the holy trinity. But looking back, coach Sean Payton has a few takeaways from the past that have led to their recent success. What are they? Hear from Payton himself:

“When you talk about culture or environment relative to a team sport, you know it starts with the ingredients. And I felt like, you know, for the most part, we had guys that there was a high buy-in factor as to what we were getting,” he said. Payton pointed out the cultural and environmental factors the Broncos community has, especially his players, constantly supporting him, even at their lowest.

“That come back when in Chicago was important, each one of these steps has been somewhat important obviously.” Payton agreed that the Bears‘ comeback had been a key factor in his belief in the team’s abilities. And the same was the case on some more occasions, according to him.

“And you’ve heard me say this before, you know that confidence is only born out of demonstrated ability… It’s finding the right group of players and then you got to roll up your sleeves a little bit in this league.” The head coach clarified that the confidence did not build out of the air; it only took shape when he saw his team’s abilities despite the lack of results.

Certainly, Sean Payton had his takeaways. After struggling for most of the first half of the season, he and Russell Wilson had seen enough. And the revival couldn’t have come at a better time. They could jump to the 2nd of the AFC East behind the Chiefs with their next win.

Can the revival take the Denver Broncos to playoffs?

There is still some time to go before one can say that confidently. But with the difficulty of their next few matches, the Broncos make a solid claim to emerge as one of the best second-placed teams in the league. It can further be noticed from their current best-case record of 6-3. For the next two games at least, the Broncos can potentially imagine a 6-5 in hand before facing the CJ Stroud challenge against the Texans.

While the future is promising, it’s still mostly a possibility. Things may go to either side. And the Broncos may see their 3-game honeymoon end as early as next week when the 6-4 Vikings show up. But Denver believes in Russell Wilson, who loves to come alive when needed. And the Vikings are without their main weapon, QB Kirk Cousins, to help the cause. If the predictions are not too wild, we can expect another closely fought victory for the home side at Mile High.
