Is Ja'Marr Chase right to call out Mahomes, or is he just stirring the pot?

Love him or hate him, but you can’t just ignore him. Indeed, we are talking about the NFL’s most beloved QB currently, Patrick Mahomes. Ja’Marr Chase has vengeful feelings against Mahomes, and he is so disgruntled that he won’t even take his name. That’s because Chase has a chip on his shoulder from about a year ago and he refuses to let it go.

We’re talking about the NFL Top 100 list, which remains incomplete at the moment. Last time, it was Mahomes who topped the charts, and it looks like he’s on the same trajectory again. Ja’Marr Chase being from Burrow’s squad and a Bengals loyalist couldn’t bear to hear Mahomes’ name once again. He let his emotions known in a recent NFL video. The NFL asked Chase about his no. 1 player on the 2024 Top 100 and Chase felt they were trying to set him up to hint toward Patrick Mahomes. But to his credit, he stuck to his guns and nominated Burrow despite all the evidence supporting the 3x Super Bowl winner.

“I’m not saying him [Mahomes},” said Chase and added, “I give credit when it’s due but I’m not saying his name.” Chase made it a point to treat Mahomes’ name like Voldemort and said, “Joe Burrow. I’m not saying that guy’s name. He’s good. He’s amazing. He’s good. Not going to lie. I’m salty, though. I’m a little salty. Two years in a row.”

Last year, Patrick Mahomes topped the chart and Chase let his feelings known even back then. Ever since Burrow and Chase joined the league, Mahomes has been standing in their way of winning a Lombardi Trophy.

Mahomes and the KC Chiefs have been back-to-back Super Bowl Champs and unfortunately, Burrow couldn’t play against Mahomes last year. But there might be some misgivings from the 2022 season when the Bengals and KC saw each other in the AFC Championship game and the game ended in Chiefs favor 23-20.

The Bengals didn’t make it easy on the Chiefs. At one point, Mahomes had to play through a sprained ankle, and he still put up 326 yards and scored two touchdowns. That might have irked Chase in some capacity. Chase played without Burrow last season but didn’t miss the opportunity to diss Patrick Mahomes as he went viral with his shenanigans.

Ja’Marr Chase disses Patrick Mahomes and gets a clever response

Last year, Burrow was asked about the roadblocks that stand in his way to the Lombardi and his answer was; Patrick Mahomes. While Burrow chose to pay homage to the Super Bowl winner, Ja’Marr Chase chose violence. When the press confronted Chase about Burrow mentioning Mahomes as a challenge, Chase replied with “Pat Who?”

Well, that didn’t sit well with Patrick Mahomes because two days later, Mahomes clapped back with a reply of his own. He posted a photo of himself posing with his two Super Bowl rings and captioned the photo, “That’s who [ring emoji].” Mahomes’ savage reply got 11.4 million impressions!

Safe to say that Ja’Marr Chase might have felt the heat after that reply. Perhaps that’s why he’s just refraining to say his name altogether.
