At the wrong end of his 30s and still shining bright since Week 7 when he made his debut for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Russell Wilson is surely one of the top QBs of his generation. But well, if it wasn’t for his father Harrison, Russell would have taken a stand on the mound or a base plate instead of the gridiron. Now after 14 years of losing his father in 2010, the veteran QB has penned an emotional message to his dad on his birthday.
In his latest IG post, the 35-year-old shared an old picture of his father, along with a heartfelt birthday wish. The message read, “Missing you today. Happy Birthday to my Inspiration. Dad, I love you”. The Steelers star then added that the one lesson from Harrison that he would never forget is ” Keep Smiling even when it gets hard… no obstacle is too big for God. Joy is forever”.

As he mentioned in his message, surely his father was his inspiration and why won’t he be? It was his father who helped him kickstart his NFL career. Back in August, in the podcast “Not Just Football with Cam Heyward,” the now-9x Pro Bowler reflected on how his dad was the reason behind his move to Wisconsin. He said, “My dad used to always tell me when I was young, I was about seven, eight years old, ‘Hey son, you need to check out this school, you know, Wisconsin.’” Fans should all thank his father Harrison for backing him to choose the NFL and hope to see many more good years of Wilson on the gridiron.

Have an interesting take?

The analyst further added that from Wilson’s past it’s just the third game for the Steelers and taking his career into account expectations are always high on him, thus this ongoing “Russell Wilson mania” will surely continue further. Well, Russell Wilson is surely showing his form in the Steelers shirt. In just two games he has a 63.2% completion rate along with 3 TDs for 542 receiving yards. Numbers don’t lie and surely these numbers are quite decent for a QB who is past his prime.
As the Steelers face the Commanders, it needs to be seen if Wilson can keep up his performance from the last couple of games that he played. Or will there be some twist? Only time will tell.
