Coming back off consecutive Super Bowl title wins, the Chiefs are stronger than ever by adding TE Jared Wiley into their ranks. While Patrick Mahomes continues to shatter all records, his best mate, TE Travis Kelce, is not getting any younger. At 34, Travis Kelce might only have a few years of fuel left in his engine. This 2024 NFL draft has shown the fans that the Chiefs are already looking to harness their replacement at tight end by drafting Jared Wiley.
As back-to-back champions, the Chiefs concluded Phase Three of OTAs, where the offense came up against the defense. Moreover, it was a 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 session, with veterans like Travis and Patrick taking on rookies like Jared. By the end of OTAs and the upcoming summer training camp, newbie Jared applauded the leadership of ‘GOATS’ Mahomes and Kelce.
In a press conference after the training camp, Wiley was full of praise for ‘No.15’, saying, “I mean y’all know like Pat’s going to you do what he does, obviously, the best quarterback I’ve ever been around. So, you know, it’s been really big, getting to take reps with him before everybody else gets here. You know, superblessed to, you know, be in a position to do that.”

After discussing his impressions of Patrick Mahomes, Jared mentioned Kelce, whom he might replace in the coming years. Speaking to the media, “His knowledge of the game, whether it’s of our offense, obviously he’s been in it for a while or just knowing what the defense is going to do and how he can kind of manipulate his routes. Or, you know, change what he’s doing to make them think that he’s doing something else. You know, that’d be the biggest thing that I’d say that I’ve looked at so far.”
Following up on the comments, Jared is in the right place, guided by the best at their positions. However, only time will tell whether the impromptu replacement for Travis Kelce can defy expectations and claim the TE throne within the Chiefs’ Kingdom.

Personal thoughts of Chiefs Stars on rookie Jared Wiley
Jared was not the only one who spoke highly of Patrick and Kelce after the conclusion of OTAs. The Chiefs stars also reverted back with their comments on the tight end who is destined for greatness. Patrick Mahomes, speaking with the reporters last week, said, “The more he gets down the field, he really makes those tough contested catches. I want him to play more physical. I know it’s kind of hard in OTAs. You can’t really bump and do stuff like that. But I think he can make those tough, contested catches kind of in the middle of the field and he’s faster than people think he is. And so he played good.”
It seems like the 6-foot-6 and 250-pound TE has made quite the impression on the hottest QB in the league. Meanwhile, Kelce, appearing on his New Heights podcast, also shared a few comments on his potential heir. He said, “It was cool to see the first time really Hollywood Brown against a defense in a Chiefs helmet. See Pat throw the ball to him. See my guy Jared Wiley in the tight-end room. How he feels defenses and runs routes and just kind of picking his brain and seeing where he’s at.”
