The 2025 NFL Draft is right around the corner. While top prospects dream of going early, nobody really wants to hear their name called last. Let’s be honest – very few actually want the title of “Mr. Irrelevant,” a nickname coined by Paul Salata back in 1976. But for the one who does get it this year and the ones who will in the years to come – Dallas Cowboys’ DeMarvion Overshown has a message just for you.

In 2023, America’s Team selected Texas Longhorns linebacker DeMarvion Overshown in round 3 with the No. 90 overall pick. Now it’s still an early round to be drafted into a team in the league. But those who are picked in the late rounds, or as Mr. Irrelevant every year, might find it embarrassing. But wait, you shouldn’t be red-faced, as the 24-year-old has a motivation for you.

During a recent presser, via ESPN, DeMarvion Overshown was asked to give a piece of advice for late-round draftees. To which, the Texas native said, “Please don’t let that number discourage you of your worth. You got it in you.” True that! As ESPN highlighted, “The number doesn’t define the dream.

For this, Tom Brady is one of the living examples, who was drafted by the Patriots in the sixth round, 199th overall, of the 2000 NFL Draft. Despite being a late-rounder, Brady defied all the doubts, becoming a legend that everyone wants to be. And of course, how can we forget our 2023 Mr. Irrelevant, Brock Purdy? The 25-year-old quarterback led his team to the Super Bowl in the very next year, becoming the fans’ favorite.

In fact, Marty Moore made history as the first Mr. Irrelevant to play in a Super Bowl, then made it even sweeter by becoming the first to win one in Super Bowl XXXVI. And let’s not forget Ryan Succop. Drafted by the Chiefs in 2009, he’s one of the most successful Mr. Irrelevants ever. With 1,430 points, he ranks 32nd on the NFL’s all-time scoring list. So yeah, as DeMarvion Overshown said, being a late-round pick doesn’t mean a thing. What does matter? You got drafted. Now it’s time to prove the team right for betting on you.

After dropping that draft gem and life advice, DeMarvion Overshown is now living his own dream – finally getting his gear just the way he always imagined.

Well, DeMarvion Overshown is now the first Dallas Cowboy ever to wear No. 0 printed on his jersey. The team dropped the news in a hype video on social media, but this number means more than just history. It’s personal for him. To the people who are unaware, DeMarvion Overshown wore No. 0 during his breakout years at Texas. It was the number he rocked when he became one of the best linebackers in college football, earning first-team All-Big 12 honors. Now, “Agent Zero” (his nickname during Texas) is bringing that same energy to Dallas. The comeback season just got real for him!

As per the reports, in 2023, the NFL allowed the players to wear this number jersey for the first time in 50 years. That too: offensive and defensive linemen weren’t allowed to change their jersey numbers as per the league’s policy. But now linebacker DeMarvion Overshown is creating history in his franchise. What a beautiful way to start the season!
